"We can't afford the luxury of staying depressed or anxious or fearful."
I'm a bit torn on this book because I think the narrative of anxiety being a luxury is dangerous. If you're picking up this book for reassurance on trivial things, that advice may be helpful. But for deeper matters, I find that advice ultimately unhelpful. Especially since many struggle with clinical depression, anxiety, trauma etc. Believe me, I wish I had the "luxury" to just set that aside!
On the other hand, I did find comfort in the extensive words about gentleness. Gave me some quotes to think about and remind me to recenter my perspective to that of gentle kindness (when applicable)
