Maybe the best one so far!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌍
Character development: ☺️😊😁😉🥰

The heroine: Sophie - she is a former foster child who works with the last family who fostered her at an insurance company owned by the father. She works with her father, foster sister and brother. They call her the black widow because two of her former boyfriends have died on her and one is on life support and basically brain dead. When she goes on a blind date from hell, she is rescued by Tybo and Valerian, two immortals who are enforcers for Lucian Argeneau. Tybo thinks she is cute and asks her on a date to Valerian’s wedding.

The Hero: Alasdair - he is an attendee at the wedding and along with his twin brother Colle, is planning to help Lucian as an enforcer in place of Valerian while he is on his honeymoon. Alistair and Colle are very close since they are twins and can’t read each other. They have lived together for a while and neither has been interested in food or sex for centuries. He is one of the Mackenzies from Scotland.

The story: Alasdair’s four Scottish uncles were also at the wedding and as soon as the four rogue hunters found out that he had found his life mate, they were determined to help him woo the girl. Though Alasdair would rather the four nosy uncles would stay out of it, he knew they were like dogs with a bone. The uncles were very Scottish and absolutely hilarious.

The story was definitely a good one. I happen to love this series and haven’t gotten sick of it yet. I hope Lynsay keeps writing more. The romance between these two happened fast, but I like how they still got to know each other and had a few dates. Then there were some events that suggested someone was after Alasdair and with Sophie’s history of boyfriends and accidents, it seemed she might have a stalker. Though even her parents died in a fire when she was young, so it was hard to tell what exactly was going on.

I think this was actually one of my favorite stories so far in the series. I love how this series has such terrific and colorful supporting characters. I can’t wait for Tybo and Colle to get their own stories, I hope they are coming up soon. The uncles were also terrific characters, though I am not sure if I want them to get their own stories since it is kind of hard to figure out what exactly they are saying half the time with their thick Scottish brogues.

“Honey, like Uncle Ludan told you, we’re immortals not vampires.” A very unamused snort came from the other side of the door.
“Well, Alasdair, honey, you can call it what you want, but if it looks like a duck and quacks like duck, it’s a damned duck.”

I voluntarily read & reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

This is a well-written, entertaining, steamy paranormal romance. It has engaging characters, a caring male protagonist, wit, humor, mystery, intrigue, sizzling chemistry, supportive family, twists and turns, and a happily ever after ending. It is an excellent addition to the Argeneau series, and can easily be read and enjoyed as a stand alone. Ms. Sands' loyal readers will appreciate the appearance of characters from past novels.

I've been reading this series from the very start and have seen the changes that the series has gone through. Some of the changes are good ones, but some are not so good. However, as the years go on and change, so must a series as long as this one. I find the newer books to be a little less amusing and a lot more passionate (the sex in this one got a tad out of hand for my tastes). But, as I said, things change with the times.

This book did have an incredible cast of secondary characters and a mystery that still has me slapping my head and saying to myself - now, why did I not figure out who did it? I never figured out the why of it, either! What a surprise twist! I loved it!

I hope to see some of the Uncles and, for sure, Colle and Tybo find their lifemates. After all these centuries, they deserve a little nookie and to enjoy food again. Don't you? LOL!

*ARC supplied by the publisher Avon, the author, and NetGalley. Many thanks.

DNF'd at 63%. Sorry but I refuse to read this into Christmas. I deserve to be happy.

I wish I'd left my memory of this series untainted. Lesson to self- Trust that you stopped reading series for a reason, even if you can't remember the reason in the moment.

This book seems like more of the same. Eventually things start to blur together. What are the odds that you can have a fresh take on the same merry band of vampires, THIRTY FIVE BOOKS LATER? Apparently, super low.

Marguerite's still the one who knows first. Predictable.

The family (and employees) are still as meddlesome as ever. Also predictable.

Alasdair is as dull as dishwater. Sophie is.......not intriguing. I'm sorry. There was nothing to keep me hooked on this. Nostalgia can only go so far.

The humor also didn't quite hit. I used to find these so funny.

RIP my love for the Argeneau series. The evil you have done is enough.

First Impressions
Bad Luck Vampire is the most recent release for the “Argeneau” series. I had such a blast with this book and while it wasn’t a perfect it was such fun to read through it. I really was intrigued to see what would be delivered on this one. Especially with this sexy as all get out cover. I just knew that I was in for a treat and it definitely was a wonderful story that I could easily get behind. This is a story that will have the perfect blend of spooky vibes with well balanced laughter. I love seeing how well this story was written in many regards and the moments that entertainined from beginning to end. We were introduced to some new characters that were so fun to read. This also has a set up of a match that doesn’t start at first, but how it evolves was quite unique, I just feel like this book could have used another 50 pages or so to the relationship building aspects to the story. It just felt a bit too rush in the end or this book would have had a five star rating attached to it. I do think that this book will appeal to fans of the Argeneau series or just a fun vampire romance that has a bit lighter but sexy vibes to it.

Summary
The setup of the story is that our heroine, Sophie, ends up on a bad date who gets a bit too forward than he should. Two enforcers for Lucien Argeneau stop the attack and keep Sophie safe. And they are brothers. But one invites her as his date to his brothers wedding. Sophie feeling grateful for the rescue of sorts, agrees to the wedding date. But her date being the best man isn’t able to be by her side, and she is then brought to the side of her lifemate….broody and reserved Alasdair who has four Scottish uncles who are charming and devilish and a twin brother that has more voice but she is more drawn to the quiet one, the one that pierces her heart deeply with one look. And when its apparent that Sophie is being focused on and that everyone around her is being attacked, Alastair and his family are determined to find out why. And during this mystery gathering, Sophie and Alastair start bonding and courting each other. But will Sophie be able to accept Alastair for who he is?

What I Loved
Bad Luck Vampire was such a fun story and I had a blast with this one. It kept me on my toes all the way through. There is something unique about the writing style of Lynsay Sands. Its the way that she is able to draw you into a story with a perfect balance of atmospheric vibes and humor that work in tandem together. We are also introduced to some new characters and I really am curious to see where the author is going with this bunch and would love for these Scottish uncles especially to find their mates. I would find that so entertaining. Alastair makes for a dreamboat in this book. I love how deliberate he is in his courting of Sophie despite the help from his twin and uncles. And when the danger elements come into play, well that was really interesting. I found that it really added some more dimension to what the title of the story actually conveys. The romance that is developed between the hero and heroine was quite interesting. There is some powerful chemistry between them and I really appreciated how compelling their connection is drawn in the story. You are instantly captivated by these two and their bond to each other. And all the laughs in this book. I honestly couldn’t stop laughing….to the point of pain. That was how well done the humor was in this story.

What I Struggled With
My issue was the ending. It felt way too rushed and I also felt like the romance just didn’t have enough connection to it. It just felt like they needed so much more time than they received. I really loved this book and it just felt like they needed a bit more focus to them. I fell very hard for this couple and it just didn’t quite get executed all the way.

Overall View
Bad Luck Vampire is a sexy romp of a vampire romance that is bound to delight your emotions from beginning to end. Its a story of mystery, boundless laughs, and a stunning chemistry to hold your attention captive!

Sophie ends up being harassed by a guy she meets and it looks like he wasn't going to take no for an answer. Tybo sees this and makes sure she is safe. Tybo likes her so he invites her to a family wedding where he finds out that she might be the lifemate of Alasdair. So Tybo makes himself scarce for most of the wedding so they can get to know each other a little better. But because he is supposed to be her date for the wedding he does make time to dance with her a few times and check on her so she doesn't think he's ignoring her. They part ways that night as friends since neither of them feel more.

Later Alasdair asks her out and right away he knows she's his lifemate but she has no idea that he's immortal like his family is. So he has to take thing slowly because she's human. They go out on a date and they both feel a spark of attraction for each other.

After they talk and get to know one another a little better, Alasdair finds out that Sophie has had a very rough life. She lost her parents when she was young and ended up being taken in my her best friends parents a while later. He also finds out that some of the other close people in her life ended up dying in accidents and she feels like she might be cursed.

Just as things seem to be going good for Alasdair and Sophie, weird things start to happen and Alasdair tries to keep the worst of it from her so he doesn't have to explain to her how he healed so quickly. But he also thinks it might just be an accident until his brother and uncles tell him different. When family secrets come to light and she finds out she has a stalker, Alasdair has no choice but to come clean in order to keep her safe while they try to figure out who is behind it all.

I loved Alasdair's uncles. They are hilarious and they mean well but sometimes go about things the wrong way. Alasdair and Sophie make such a sweet couple, I was really rooting for them. I have been reading this series since it began and these books just get better and better. I cannot recommend this series enough.

Disclosure: I was given a free e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Bad Luck Vampire by Lynsay Sands is book 36 in the Argeneau Series. This is the story of Tybo and Sophie. Tybo saves Sophie from an aggressive man. Tybo is attracted to Sophie and asked her to attend a family wedding. There he learns she may be a life mate for someone else.
Love Ms. Sands writing and I highly recommend it along with this book.

so I enjoyed it til I didn’t

So the FMC is obnoxiously sex obsessed. Their entirely relationship is exceptionally shallow. It was hilarious but Sophie eternity sucks if the only thing you have is great sex. Alasdair was as entertaining as a limp noodle. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the entire supporting cast this book would have been a 1 star

I received Bad Luck Vampire in return for an honest review from the publisher via Netgalley.

Sophie hasn't had the best luck when it comes to dating but when set up on a blind date it takes the cake. She can't even get dinner ordered before she's rushing out the door with him hot on her heels. Thankfully her savior just happens to be in the parking lot saves the day and Sophie finds herself a date to a wedding with an attractive man. Little did she know she would meet a man with an electric connection at the wedding.

I love Sophie she's sweet and just adorable you can't help liking her and I really connected with her. I love the sizzling steamy connection between her and Alasdair even though he is an Argeneaus so of course he has to be swoon worthy. I also really enjoyed the side characters we got to know who are MacKenzie's the uncles are the best characters and I just loved them all.

I'm a huge fan of the Argeneaus series and have been reading them since they first came out. I may not be current and have skipped around a bunch over the years but they are always some of the best paranormal romance I've ever read. Bad Luck Vampire doesn't disappoint it's another lovely installment in the series. I love the way the author perfectly balances the story with the romance we have just enough mystery to keep me guessing till the very end.

I've loved all of the characters up to this point but I think Sophie may be my favorite but I feel like that after I read each one. She's just a great character and her story is just beautiful. The author has done a lovely job creating a captivating story that I ended up lost in till the very last page. One of my favorite series and I can't wait to see who is next on the list to find their happy ever after. I really did like the uncles so maybe one of them will be next.

This book forgives the shame of the way some of the characters act in this series. Tybo is a very naughty vampire that loves to play some interesting pranks on certain characters. How the tables have been turned on him at his dearest friend’s wedding. Sophie and Alasdair who who’ve thought. These to bring some interesting entertainment to the story where loyalty and love must stand against vengeance. The story is an easy read that was very fun to read. The romance was very sweet. Almost like a sweep you off your feet sort of thing. I enjoyed the characters very witty attitudes. I found the extremely entertaining. Until next time my fellow readers. Read on! I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Alasdair MacKenzie meets his life mate, Sophie Ferguson, at Valerian's wedding. But she's Tybo's date! The attraction is mutual, but Sophie is leery. After all her parents were killed in a house fire, her first love had an accident and is in a vegetative state, her second love died in a hit and run accident and her fiancé died in a hit and run. Is it coincidence that Alasdair is poisoned? survives a hit and run as a pedestrian and his identical twin brother survives a hit and run vehicular accident?

I love this series. This is #36, and there were at least 6 characters who could be next. I liked that this was not part of an ARC with a villain who is from other books. This story had a surprise villain.
Alasdair meets his life mate at a wedding when she is on a date with another immortal. Sophie doesn't understand why she is so attracted to him. It is quite adorable. Alasdair's 4 Scottish uncles decide to help him woo Sophie, and when she is in peril, they all help her. The usual fun banter and clueless male is what I love about these books.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my EARC. If you have not read the previous 35 books, get reading!! I love to reread these books.

The majority of the book was okay though I wished there was more of them getting to know each other and less sex. The ending was super rushed and then became unbelievable when everything was revealed, he said they’d take care of it, then she was asking for sex again like all that never happened!!!!!! What?! Didn’t like that ending at all.

Bad Luck Vampire
Argeneau, Book 36

I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.

Media Type: Audiobook
Source: Everand
Dates Read: 5/9/24 - 5/12/24
Rating: 4 Stars
Narrator(s): Kit Swann

The Characters:

Sophie Ferguson:
Alasdair MacKenzie:
Alasdair’s Twin, Uncles and other Arseneau's

The Story:
Even 36 books in, I continue to love this series. It was nice to see the mind control and different aspects from the non- immortal perspective. Alisdair and Sophie have so much chemistry. I love the play between them. And I love the uncles, I hope they hang around for a while.
That ending was such a surprise for me. I mean I considered it, but I was still shocked once everything unfolded.

Love this series, for this one the end was a little rushed and convenient and in the rush must have forgotten that the batteries of the suv had to have purposely been disconnected yet the murder said they saw their target when the tow arrived so didn't have the murderer sabotage the suv which could have been an easy spot to correct with a read through but honestly doesn't affect the story enough to care

This was a cute read and the narrator, Kitt Swan, is amazingly talented.
I found this on my bookshelf and did not realize it was #a million in the series (36/37) before starting. I have not read any of her other books, and if I were super interested, I’d start from #1…although it did not deter from understanding the storyline for this book as I read it as a standalone.
Lynsay Sands’ writing style is easy and I could see enjoying more of her novels in the future.

Serial Ki11er

I really enjoyed the book and how awkward Alastair was. His uncles are absolutely hilarious and there were different times I laughed out pound at what was happening in the book. What knocked it down to a 4 star for me was that their relationship and the conclusion seemed really rushed. We went from suspecting that someone was killing people that loved Sophie through her life to it being revealed immediately afterwards that someone was, who it was and why they did it.

My other part that confused me was that when the killer is revealed he admits to hitting Alastair with his car and then showing up the next day to comfort Sophie only to see Alastair coming out to talk to the tow truck driver. So here is my problem. If he didn’t know Alastair was alive until that point then who disconnected Alastair’s SUV battery causing him to call the tow truck in the first place? Is there a second party that was after Alastair and disconnected his battery? Did someone else do it because they didn’t want Sophie leaving with him? It is definitely a bit of a plot hole that bugs me because if the killer didn’t sabotage the SUV then who did?

Alasdair MacKenzie is convinced he has a gnarly case of bad luck when he encounters his fated mate, Sophie Ferguson, for the first time while she is on a date with another man. Between some bad shrimp and a threatening hit and run, it’s going to be harder than he thought to convince Sophie they’re meant to be together. Throw in four meddling uncles who are hellbent on helping him woo his mate, and Alasdair’s got his work cut out for him.

I liked the family Dynamic of the Immortals; they seemed like a funny and easygoing group. However, I would have like to see what the job duties of an Enforcer would detail. I feel like the ending was a little bit rushed and (correct me if I’m wrong) I couldn’t figure out who unplugged Alasdair’s battery in his SUV. I also found it a little ironic that they don’t like to be called vampires, yet it’s in the title.

I really like the stories but...

I really like this series but I feel like there is too much explaining what is going on and not enough story line. For instance describing why a character went to their car in minute detail. Spending to much time in a characters head, not enough time of characters actually talking to each other. I feel like the story was not complete.

Quick Summary: An immortal's tale on finding a lifemate

My Review: Bad Luck Vampire by Lynsay Sands is book 36 in the Argeneau Novel series.

About the Book: After suffering through the date from hell, all Sophie Ferguson wanted to do was make a great escape. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. Her blind date had elected to ridiculously follow her and push his attentions on her. Thankfully, a knight in shining armor rescued her, and before she knew it, he whisked her away to a wedding. Who knew she'd meet her soulmate there?

About the Conflict: To Sophie's utter dismay, the "curse" that had seemingly followed her for years was activated, and the newfound relationship that she had passionately embraced was in jeopardy. Could Alasdair Mackenzie and his immortal clan help her by bringing clarity and resolution to the troubling situation that plagued her?

My Final Say: This was my first exposure to this series. I was quite surprised by its humor, dramatic suspense, and spiciness. I was able to pick up and follow along without any great difficulty. I found this novel to be very entertaining.

This book follows the story of Sophie and Tybo - but WAIT, not Tybo but Alasdair! ( no spoilers, it's in the blurb and the first few pages of the book )

Like all the relationships that Lynsay creates, these two are perfect together. I love the backstory she gives to Sophie and Alasdair being harassed by his uncles is hilarious - yes, she writes their speech in a Scottish accent and it's amazing. You can hear the words!

The mystery in the book had me thinking I knew what the answer was from pretty early on, but then second guessing myself part way through until I suspected everyone! It was a great storyline and I'm glad it was resolved in the way it was

I don't think I'll ever tire of this series - each book is based on a different Immortal finding their lifemate and while you may think:
"Surely after 36 books, you get the jist by now?"
You'd be wrong

Yes the books themselves have a clear plot point, of them meeting this person and falling in love, that is resolved by the end of the book but they're so much more than that - there's usually a conflict, something keeping them apart or a dangerous situation that they have to solve and it scratches that mystery/thriller itch without being a full on murder series

All the characters have such personalities and differences that they're memorable - we're how many books in now and I can still remember my favourite cousin character from that one book or that one time in another book where this character said that funny thing to another character etc. They just become real people and real experiences that you can think back on like memories of your own.

I love this series and can't wait for #37

Bite me now, i think I’m in love with Alistair McKenzie.
I’ve been reading this series by Lynsay Sands since 2010 and this book is in my top in the series.

Sophie thinks she’s cursed. Everyone she has loved has either died or been left in coma. When she meets Alistair McKenzie while on a date with another man so think it’s the curse.

I always love the storylines we get in the argeneau series. This is not just a smutty book with absolutely no plot. We get a bit of a mystery on why all these men in Sophie’s life keep dropping dead on her.

Now don’t get me wrong. The spice is still amazing! Beautifully written and makes you want your own immortal life mate.

Now I need a book with Colle and more of the meddling uncles 😅 The uncles gave me all my laugh out aloud moments.

Well, it’s not bad, once you get past Marguerite’s pretty much telling the h’s date that he has to step aside because she’s someone else’s. Like, doesn’t she get a say? Well….no, because everyone interferes and manipulates the situation.

Add to that, her past (and her utter lack of suspicion until our H and his uncles brought it up), and somehow the bad guy never acting upon things with her personally (I call BS on that - bad guy went to too much trouble over the years not to)

But anyway…she meets the H at a wedding, much manipulation and near death experiences later (well, as close as an immortal can get without actually dying from it), oh, and the coming out of the creep without them even having to hunt him down to see, we have a HEA.

So where IS Marguerite’s kid anyway? She’s been flitting about for 5 books I think with no mention of her still being pregnant. She just pawn it off on one of her adult kids so she can make a nuisance of herself?

Story 4.25 stars. Narration 5 stars
This was one of the best of the series I think. I literally had a hard time putting it down. It was a solid 5 stars for me until close to the end. Then the actions of Sophie, the main character, kind of ruined the ending. I realize it was over but it’s like all this major horrible stuff had just happened moments before and she was just happy. No depression or anything. No crying. I was shocked to tell the truth. An epilogue should have been added to the story.

The uncles comic relief was great and I’d love to see them get their stories. Also Cole and Tybo as well. I’ll be reading/ listening to them whoever has a story anyway. It’s a fun series and I usually enjoy them.

love is not bad luck

This was a very tame story from previous ones. Sofie has had terrible bad luck people have been dying all around her. She doesn’t want to go near anyone because she believes they might die. Her foster brother calls her the black widow and she believes he might not be that far from the truth.

Alastair cannot believe he found his lifemate on a date with someone else at a wedding. Now he knows he has bad luck and he has to figure out how to woo her. He has four uncles on his side that don’t know what they are doing and he has to convince Sofie that he is the one.

I had to annotate this and I hated every single moment of it. Might as well have gouged my eyes out. What kind of perverted plot twist was that? And who falls in love in 2-3 days?! If i was Sophie I would flee to another country and change my name. And on top of that I hated the dumb forced scottish accents. Im so glad this is over. It took me so long to read. Idk how the author wrote 38+ of these vampire novels. Also apparently theyre not vampires in the book but its literally called "Bad Luck Vampire"
