Where does one start with about what I do?
I’m a writer, but I’m sure you guessed that by now if you’re reading this, hey? What you might not know is I’m a little quirky, live in my pj’s most of the time and have cake Saturdays with my sisters every week. I dedicate a little of my time to taking care of my grandbabies and on the dedicated writing days I like to write an eclectic mix of romance, suspense and paranormal fantasy. In the main I’ve written gay romance but I’m branching out under another the pen name in the future, so watch this space.
I’ve a passion for books like you would not believe and it led me down this path and now I’ve over 29 books released and heading towards releasing a whole lot more. The way my head is I never know where I’ll be headed next. I hope you’ll find a little joy in my words and follow me to see where the journey takes me and you.
If you’re interested at some point in 2021 I’ll be writing under the name JP Paton which will be F/M crime and Fantasy two of my favourite things. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled 

To have babies or not to have babies? That is the question. The Thalassa brothers believe they are the last of their kind. Nature has provided them with mates, and a baby boom has erupted. But do all couples want babies? There’s the extended family, too – the assassins. The people who never believed they’d have a life outside of cages and killing.
This book is a spin-off to the Tangled Tentacles and Assassins for Hire series, and knowledge of these books is necessary to get the full reading experience. I have read all the novels in both series, and can heartily recommend them as standout stories, with pride of place on my shelf.
The Baby Question contains five short stories of couples who did not get pregnant at the end of their individual tales but whose stories continued in the background of future novels.
At first, I expected a bunch of tales containing the hilarious antics of preschool children. Then I read the blurb properly and realized that this was better. It delves into a world where, just because everyone else was getting pregnant, was it suitable for XYX now or later, if at all?
An All-Knowing Kraken. This story features Markov and Cassius (Kraken/Shark), and one of them discovers they are pregnant. However, in the novel – Markov - something happened to Markov and his Kraken, which allowed the Kraken to have his own voice. Since then, the Kraken has become somewhat of an oracle for all the others – one that keeps secrets – much to the frustration of Markov and Cassius. These two are not ready to become parents, but they must get used to the extraordinary event on the horizon.
Magnus’s Way. This story features Kelvin and Magnus (Kraken/Cat) and the imminent birth of their baby. It is a story of what is right for them. Traditionally Kraken deliveries take place in a pool surrounded by relatives. However, Magnus (the cat) is pregnant and wants privacy, pointing out that he is more than a baby carrier and that the Kraken way isn’t the only way.
Marvin’s Little Miracle. Featuring Marvin, who stole everyone’s heart in earlier novels and Ajani from the Assassins series (Wolf mix/Gorilla). Marvin has no idea he is pregnant until the surprise birth. Imagine the chaos that causes! What I love about Marvin is how he is so innocently idealistic while telling someone to fuck off all in the same breath.
Victor’s Dilemma. A Kraken/Vampire tale featuring Victor and Azim, who believe they don’t want kids, but examine their feelings because of the peer pressure of everyone else getting pregnant. This is a tale I think a fair few will identify with – children aren’t for everyone.
Baby Shower Delights. Featuring the all-cat trio of Ben, Nico, and Teilo from the Assassins series. If I had to pick a fav, this would be it. With babies popping out all over the place, the three are invited to a belated baby shower. All Nico and Teilo have known is a cage and how to kill. That is until Ben came to the rescue and introduced them to ice cream. Ben guides them through the whys, do’s, and don’ts of shopping for babies, which is hilarious. Teilo wants to buy everything, Nico hates shopping, wanting to stab any toy that makes a noise, yet is indulgent to Teilo’s enthusiasm. Nico’s comments are the one’s I identified with the most.
I loved every story as each gives a different view of babies, pregnancy, and birth, with some astute observations. And while all births and babies are special, it would have been nice to have a finishing tale of Markov’s and Cassius’s to go full circle. Their surprise pregnancy is documented, but their birth is a footnote, which is a shame because this one is particularly unique in the Kraken world – I felt left out.

Babies!

The Baby Question is a sweet short story collection covering stories from all of the couples from Tangled Tentacles and the spin-off series that hadn't already had babies.
I got my little told you so moment (there was a hint in Ben that tipped me off), and that story was so sweet.
Loved this check-in with all of the characters. It was just too cute.

Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is an addition to the Tangled Tentacles AND Assassins To Order series, it cannot be read as a stand alone.

What this is, right, is a wonderful catch up everyone and I loved it, bar one thing.

There are a lot of babies in this book, and a LOT of surprises for several members of this ever growing family!

I liked that Magnus puts his paw down with Kelvin's kraken about their birth. I LOVED the surprise for Markov and Cassius, that one threw me! Them too, but did not see that one coming! I loved that there were conversations about NOT having babies, at all or just yet.

But the best surprise was for Marvin and Ajani!

So, what didn't I love?? Too short! I need more of these kind of catch up shorts, or better yet, the next book in the Assassins series! I love these books, and it's been a little while.

a delightful catch up, thank you for writing them!

4 too stinking cute and warm and fuzzy stars

THE BABY QUESTION is a follow-up that combines the Tangled Tentacles series and the Assassins To Order series with five short stories that all happen in a relatively short amount of time.

I enjoyed all of them - and the catch-up - but some more than others. And I found myself either agreeing or disagreeing more strongly than I had anticipated! For example, I really disliked how Markov's kraken basically played them until it became clear, but I liked him when he sided with Magnus. Then it was Kelvin who was out of favour. Marvin's miracle birth was absolutely perfect for him and I can understand how it would raise questions for those who either don't want children at all or those that don't want them yet.

All in all, this was a great short read that has just made me want to return to their world again and again, but with longer stories. Definitely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *
