Hellcop #1 (2021) Brian Haberlin & Geirrod Van Dyke WrapAround Cover, Brian Haberlin & Geirrod Van Dyke Pencils, Brian Haberlin Story "Welcome to Hell" When mankind first broke through the walls between dimensions, nothing could have prepared them for what they would find in Known Reality Plane 1301- it was absolute Hell. Literally. A covert security force was quickly assembled to patrol the Hellplane and ensure that none of the nastier denizens made their way Earthside. They were dubbed the Pan-Dimensional Security Corps. The HELLCOPS.
I loved the concept of a hell dimension! I loved the weird freaky monsters (the tattooed angel babies, the big head, etc.)! I liked the twist at the end and that it seems like a big government cover up. All very intriguing things, but I just couldn't get past the weirdness of the art to bump it up to five stars. When it was the hell dimension it wasn't so bad, but then when they would return back, it completely broke the immersion. I would give it a shot and see if I could get past it with a full length trade paperback, but from a single issue standpoint it just wasn't my favorite.
Absolutely awesome!!! Love this title! The writing, artwork, and the ads on the back of this issue make this comic stand out. I highly recommend this issue.
