I received this book, for free, in exchange for an honest review.

I thought this would be a Buddhism with attitude book a la Chris Grosso's Everything Mind: What I've Learned about Hard Knocks, Spiritual Awakening, and the Mind-Blowing Truth of It All. I was somewhat right. Both authors are recovering addiction with the help of Buddhism. They both seem to understand personal brand and have developed a similar branding. And now on to how my impression was wrong...

In the Buddhism arena this book does relatively poorly.
I found the sections to be too long winded to keep me interested.
This book could be a good intro to Buddhism, but at least in my memory there are better Buddhist
books out there.

On the other hand, this book excels as a life coaching manual.
There are many personal development exercises/concepts in this book that were both helpful and new to me (after reading many personal development books).

My main criteria for a good book is how many things I can learn from it.
This book taught me more than most (4 or 5 things I can do to better myself) and for that it gets my highest praise. To put that into perspective, I am usually happy if I can learn 1 thing from a book.

This book is written from the heart with passion. Firstly it's utterly incredible the life changing transformation that Brett has been through. he could easily have ended up in a very different place but listened to his intuition and took the path of self development. Secondly what we have here is a book that lifts the reader to their own place of transformation. It's written with humour and real life experiences. Brett pulls no punches and challenges the reader to make personal changes. Offering the suggestion that we all have the capacity within us to change our lives for the better. It's a must read for anyone stuck in a rut, hooked on self deprecating behaviours or those with little or no direction. It's easy to read, nothing fancy in the text just good old straight talking advice that if you take it will seriously affect your wellbeing.
It's a great 'dipper' book. Dip in and out for motivation and inspiration. Can highly recommend.

Brett Moran, a truly great guy. I used to listen to his podcasts and they where real amazing. Funny story how I even got to know about him, I was at a yoga retreat in Thailand and he liked on of my Instagram posts. The book is a typical self-help book. It has lots of exercises in it for you to really deep dive in your mind and figure sh*t out. I personally enjoy a book with a bit more thought into the philosophy of life more then a straight self help book. I do like that he shared a lot about his life. Perhaps It didn’t have to much of an effect to me because he talked about pretty much all if it in his podcast. Therefore it was a bit of a challenging read. I can't exactly pinpoint why, but I struggled somewhat to finish the book. The flow was missing a bit.

When I first came across this book in Barnes and Noble, it seemed like it would be quite an interesting story about a man’s journey through addiction and life itself. While I did enjoy the comical side of the writing, the initial book turned out to be quite different than I had imagined it to go. I don’t typically read these types of books, but I figured to give it a try. I did enjoy learning about appreciating life and taking the negatives and turning them into positives. I will say I didn’t “love love” this book, however, it was still a learning experience and definitely had me thinking about a lot. I would most certainly recommend this to anyone, especially those suffering from addiction or (like myself) knowing of someone whose addicted and struggling to help.

Great tips and tools. Author sounds like he's really been through it and wants to genuinely share his experience and advice. A proof read or two may have been beneficial.

Well, this guy has lived through some trials and tribulations, even a prison sentence or two, and has lived to tell his side of how to become successful. He does have some interesting visualization tools in here, and I found it useful to be reminded that the only thing limiting us in our lives is our own selves. I recommend it for someone who is looking for a book that is easily accessible that gives practical advice on how to turn your life around and invite more success into your life.

“When we open up and let our hearts rather than our heads lead the way, we attract more than we could ever imagine. The system takes everything from us – our energy, money, blood, sweat, family time and tears! Let’s not let it take away the true currency of life, let’s reconnect and enjoy the ride!” (206).
