The photography in this book is absolutely stunning! An older book, published in 1989, but still plenty of interesting, valuable information. There is a chapter on Feeding and Feeders; Water, A Key Element; Planting for Birds; Nestboxes and other help; Planning your new habitat; Reaping what you've sown; etc. Although the information is not very plentiful and detailed, there were many new things I learned. For example, they show how to make a testing tray feeder which helps determine which seed is the preference of the birds coming to your yard. I got some new ideas for my yard just by looking at the beautiful photos. This is truly a book I will keep on hand so that I can refer back to it.

Liked this book! Definitely want to start researching more about birds because when I get a house I want an environmentally friendly home that attracts birds, butterflies, frogs, etc. It will all depend on where I will live, but from living in Lowell and biking all around (and having friends in the sustainability club), I noticed various types of birds and want to learn more.

If one wishes to attract birds, there are four key elements for survival:
1. a year round supply of food.
2. constant source of water.
3. shelter (from enemies and the elements).
4. protected spots for creating nests and protecting the young ones :)

The most boring bird book I've read. Seriously. It was a struggle to get through and I enjoy garden and bird books.
