In October 1986 the bodies of two nine-year-old Brighton girls were found in undergrowth close to their homes. After three years, the case was still unsolved. Having interviewed relatives and gained access to documents, the author has uncovered new evidence which calls for a re-opening of the case.
A grim and disturbing true story. Disturbing on very many levels, because I came away not knowing for sure what happened here and whether justice was done or not. Or whether it still can be done, given the limitations of the British criminal justice system.
The degradation and filth surrounding such a horrific double-murder couldn't be more cruel and deplorable. Supposition, allegations, child-porn (my opinion, rape), pederasts, investigative bungles, contradictory 'witnesses', you can go on and on, and still be left without an iota of reason for mindless depraved monsters who destroy lives. Karen and Nicola, (memories of Jessica and Nicole, Soham victims) here so brief and whose murders leave far more questions than answers; with Russell Bishop, the main suspect, later jailed for the kidnap and near death of another child in 1990, (now to stand trial again for Karen and Nicola, 2018) and Nicola's own father and a relative arrested and released for allegations of abusing her back in the 80's, in 2009. My God, there are no words. Rumours of Freemasons, pederast church hierarchy, suspicious details of 'other unsolved's' leaves true fear in the heart. What a book! C. Berry-Dee and Robin Odell, your investigation was very brave indeed. Heartbreaking, just truly heartbreaking. Karen Fellows and Nicola Hadaway, R.I.P..
