Meh. This one would should probably get a 2.5. I really like the story, the idea of a woman accidentally summoning demon lords to help her solve a murder? Great. Love it.
The demon lords trying to find out what’s going on and uncovering some sort of active incident that’s much bigger than one murder? I’m in.
Jade stomping around screaming at everyone for not doing enough to solve her problems for her? No thanks.
Now, I’m addicted to rh/why choose books because I love seeing the group dynamics and how they work, so I read a lot of these even if they’re not great.
So, will I read the next two books? Yes.
Am I happy about that? Not particularly.
I would really really really love to see Jade mature and grow and feel remorse for the way she treats people, and the story does leave space for that kind of development.
In the next book, I’d really like to see her start coming to terms with her grief and realizing that it’s been the thing that’s been making her so awful lately.
But I have fear that I won’t get to see that, because a lot of books like this really try to lean in to the “badass FMC” idea, but all it really seems to ever refer to is a FMC who is mean, stubborn, self-absorbed, and narcissistic.
I would really love to see a “badass FMC” who reaches badass status by being smart, making meaningful connections and soliciting help from people that she respects, instead of this “no one likes me and I don’t like anyone, it’s me against the world because the world is unfair and has been mean to me, so that gives me the right to treat others like garbage” spiel that we keep getting.
Here’s hoping.

ARC review- I will start out by saying; I don’t feel this book ends on a cliff hanger, but it does end with the story line unfinished. That being said, I enjoyed the book greatly! The world building was different and the characters were fantastic. They are snarky, funny, intense, remorseful and kooky. You hurt, you laugh, you roll your eyes at their antics.

The demons are almighty, full of themselves and need to be taken down a notch or two. Who better to do that then a strong and bossy FMC with a best friend that doesn’t put up with anyones shit?

I would call this a medium/fast burn with high chemistry. 3/5 on the spice scale, but I feel like that will be higher as the series continues. If you want instant love and flowers, this series is not for you. If you want 3 demons who bust in and attempt to control everything while being reminded that they’re not always at the top of the food chain, and a strong FMC who is more than willing to remind the Lords who is in charge then this is for you.

Not my cup of tea

My first impressions where that the author was trying too hard to make the heroine "super cool" After reading the whole book I stand by those thoughts, we are told not shown, unless it includes her getting naked every five seconds. The heroine is absolutely selfish, she's told what will happen to the wards if they can't do their jobs. Does she show us how "powerful" she is by simply changing her summoning spell? No! Not a care for the supernaturals who need a safe haven.

This was a frustrating read, there was a hint of a plot there for a minute, then it went off on a tangent.

Witch Jade (FMC) is looking for answers to who murdered her sister so when she summons a demon to help her she gets more than she bargained for and become entangled with the Lords of Blackwood (Vrahs, Throne & Ryker). That kicks off a hilarious caper where 3 annoyed demons and one snarky witch have to find a way to get along to complete their deal. I was enjoying reading this book so much that I finished it in one night. This was a brilliant start to this series.

This is the first instalment of the dark lords or Blackwood series, I ABSOLUTELY DEVOURED THIS BOOK!! I loved it !!
Jade- The witch, super sassy, take no shit FMC.
Vrahs- smoking hot, super moody winged and horned demon lord with a vibrating tail…yep a vibrating tail that he can change the shape of 😵 Vrahs in his glamoured form is also obviously smoking hot!
Ryker- another demon lord, also obviously absolutely smoking hot, he is very hot and cold towards Jade and his mood swings gave me whiplash!
Thorne - MY FAVOURITE, the best I feel of the demon lords WOW! This wickedly handsome incubus oozes sex appeal.
Jade really gets these guys under her skin after summoning them by accident thanks to her dead sisters cat!! In her effort to avenge her sister’s apparent suicide .
These sinfully handsome demon lords try to bully Jade out of their contract to help her have absolutely no idea how head strong and determined our FMC is to avenge her sister and find her killer.
After the demon lords plant thousands of frogs in her apartment, get her evicted and destroy her job, what else is she to do but turn up at the basilica and move herself in without giving the lords much of a choice 😂 But I’m intrigued to see what awaits Jade and the demon lords in the second book.
5🌟 paranormal dark why choose romance ❤️‍🔥
5🌶️ not a huge amount of spice but the spice we get is 🥵 did I mention the vibrating tail that Vrahs can change the shape of. ( what is wrong with me)

See No Evil

Jade decides to summon a demon in order to avenge her sisters death. Unfortuante for her, she summons not just one, but three of them and they're not just simple demons. They're demon lords, and they're kind of mad about the situation.

After reading this book (and now needing book 2!) I feel like everyone should be able to summon their own demon/demon lords. Ryker, Thorne and Vrahs are all such interesting characters that really made the book so good. Their connection to Jade, and overall attitude towards the situation was highly entertaining.

The author does steam very well and this book didn't have nearly as much as I was expecting. I was dying to see them take this reverse harem book to a spicy level and it didn't happen. The writing was incredible, the steam just wasn't really there for me.

I rate this a solid 'Nah'.

There was some potential here, but the 4 main characters are insufferable. The plot was solid, but it really was ruined by how awful these characters are. They're all dickbags. Horny dickbags. I was really grossed out by the whole eviction plot. The fact that she didn't gut them for that is unacceptable. Vile.

This book was not my first time entering Jewel Killian’s world and just like the other times, this book was such a fun read!

Jade is a witch whose sister has died under mysterious circumstances. Jade doesn’t believe the police and she is determined to find the truth about her sister’s death. She decides to summon a demon to help investigate. To her surprise she summons the three demon lords who rule the city of Blackwood. The three demon lords who are supposed to be excluded from summoning… They are not happy about it and they are determined to make Jade rescind their contract.

This book was an interesting read and the I found the world building fascinating. I enjoyed the banter between the demon lords and Jade and the pranks they pull on one another. It was a bit of a slow burn, but the spice developed! I am excited to read the next book in this series and see how the rest of the story and investigation unfolds.

A witch is looking for answers as to why her sisters murder was staged as a suicide. She plans to summon a lower level demon to do her bidding but in a twist of fate summons 3 demon lords who rule over her town. This book centers around their bargain and how the lords are trying to bully her into breaking the bargain, but the FMC does not back down to get her answers. I like the idea of this book series, but it didn’t really draw me in. Lack of backstory and explanation of magic system coupled with fast paced romance did not do it for me.

**I got an ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review.**

So, normally I don't like to do ARCs for series. In general, I don't read unfinished series, because I don't like to wait and forget important facts/details and the impression I have of the world, characters, and plot.

But I make an exception here and there, when I'm interested in the content and I like to discover and help new authors, too. So, I tried this one out. I go in it, without any expectations at all. And I always try to immerse myself into the world and accept the rules as they are. It's like a mediation exercise, where you “empty” yourself of everything that is unnecessary.

I do that, because a lot of people rate a book with their own beliefs and society standards in mind. And it gives me a better experience to just be in the world and take it as they are, without any bias. I'm in general more open-minded, and with that practice I am even more open.

Though, I should mention: Otherwise than with books, I don't do meditation.

But back to the review: I just dived in. Still, I was surprised. First off, Jade. She comes as a surprise. Feisty, combative, but still very vulnerable and relatable. Tough, not flawless, but still honest. I liked that combination. She isn't dumb. And she is grieving the dead of her murderer sister, the only family she had. Of course, she wants to know who did it and take revenge. And as a witch, she has the means to do so. And the will to go through with it.

So, she accidentally summons the Lords of Blackwood City to help her in her quest. Of course, they don't took it kindly to be summoned. It was funny how they constantly quarrel with each other. Some parts are really childish, which I didn't like sometimes. Because it doesn't fit the age. Sure, age is just a number. But it doesn't mean, it should be disregarded.

Especially, it is hard to imagine Demon Lords, who are thousands of years old and know the works, ins, and outs of demon work/summoning, just disregard this kind of tradition. Sure, they are shocked to be summoned. But doesn't mean, they should disregard it.

And the parts around the summoning doesn't sum up. It's said, once a demon is summoned, they can't do anything beside the job they are summoned for. It was said, that's why they can't work on the city and therefore angered. But they are able to pull pranks and all the other stuff to hassle Jade. Doesn't make sense to me. But it didn't disturb me that much, that I would subtract a star.

It still had humorous moments, spice, and mystery. So, I'm excited to see what is next.

Probably some spoilers ahead as I'm planning on writing one review for the series as a whole, given that I read the books one after another.

I was excited to start this book based off of the blurb.
And honestly, the very beginning of book 1 gave me no issues. It was interesting and I was enjoying getting to know the situation and get a feel for everything.

But as the story continues on, our FMC, Jade, comes across as wildly selfish and unbelievably out of touch - especially for a female character who escaped her own traumatic past and moved to this city for refuge.

We get to the end of book 3, and Jade is still equally as self-centered.

And the guys? More than halfway into book 2, they're still absolute assholes. The constant "filthy witch" and "dirty cur" name-calling was not working for me, especially that far in. Like... jesus.. At what point are these demons actually giving book bf vibes?

The mystery part of the entire series exposition is honestly not good enough or strong enough for all the other BS we have going on.

There is also so much smut in this series to the point where I genuinely think it's too much.

And the way the MM in this series is dealt with, and I'm shocked that I haven't seen this mentioned in any other reviews?

I don't have an issue with MM in why choose books, especially when it's pre-established.

In this series, it is and it isn't.
Vrahs and Thorne are, but Ryker is not (with either of the other guys).

At one point, our FMC, Jade, learns she is Vrahs' true mate. She freaks out for a few reasons and portals away. Thorne puts the moves on Vrahs, and Vrahs even thinks to himself 'Hmm, this is probably something I should discuss with Jade first given that she's my mate. But she left me so fuck her.' And then he screws Thorne. How icky, to do something like this out of spite.

Then, inevitably Ryker and Thorne want to get together. They've never been together before, so this is very clearly new and not pre-established. They BOTH say they should wait for Jade and discuss with her, but then they throw that out of the window and say screw it.

Fundamentally, I don't have issues with MM, but I was not a fan of how it was handled in this series.

I really wanted to like this. But it just fell way short of what I expect from a paranormal book and a RH book.

First, I loved the premise. Accidentally summoning and binding three powerful MMCs to you? Yes, please. I liked Jade's kick ass attitude (at first) and them lashing out against her for summoning them helped build tension. But...

This was only 200 pages. For a RH. I should've known then that the author wouldn't prioritize meaningful relationship building. If it's a why choose and the FMC doesn't build a relationship with all the MMCs individually then it's not a good book. She doesn't have to fall in love by the time the book ends, but she should've connected with each of them and it just didn't happen. We got way too much from Jade's POV and hardly any from the MMCs. I would've rather had it be all her POV honestly. Also, we learn far more about Vrahs than the other two and next to nothing about Ryker. I'm assuming it will be addressed in the next books, but I don't want to have to wait to get attached to a main character.

The plot had potential. Murder mystery. Conspiracy. Tangled world building. But it was handled pretty carelessly. So much time was spent with the MCs bickering, that nothing happened in the plot. LITERALLY NOTHING HAPPENED by the end. She finds nothing about the killer, the MMCs don't solve their own problems, they don't fall in love, we don't learn anything about her past or the pasts of the MMCs. There was just nothing.

I don't believe the MCs even liked each other aside from physical attraction and I don't want to have to read another book just to see if they do cultivate a real relationship. Overall, this was just sloppy and a whole missed opportunity.

Started out okay - nothing great, but immersive enough to keep reading. However, it was almost like the writer quit putting any effort in once the demon lords showed up. After that it just became repetitive, sloppy, rushed, immature, and tedious.

The interactions between Jade and the three MMCs were so ridiculous and juvenile that I could barely read through them without my right eye spasming. Who the heck wants to read the equivalent of puffed up preteens playing XBox, swearing at each other like the emotionally dysregulated zygotes they are?

And the smut? Jesus H, where do I even begin? I'm in no way against a good sex scene, but not only were these gratuitous and jarringly random, but the interplay itself was so dang hokey that I'm curious as to who the target audience is? They use scene terms they clearly don't know even the first thing about, use unrestricted supernatural talents as a lazy (and boring) sexual free for all, and spend absolutely zero time investing in chemistry - instead opting for nauseatingly overdone tropes:

- The males just can't understand why they're so inexplicably DRAWN to the FMC.
- And the FMC? Well, these otherworldly, drop dead gorgeous, god-like males treating her like rhino dung are JUST SO HOT she can't seem to resist them!

To each their own, but I don't enjoy an FMC who has subterranean level self esteem, acts like a small-minded, spoiled toddler, and has the emotional maturity of a Jerry Springer guest. Thankfully, it only took me a few hours to read and I don't plan on picking up the next.

This was a bit different than I expected.

Jade has just lost her sister. The human police have Ruled her death as suicide and closed her case. But she knows it's not true. As a witch, she's used to summoning demons to help people - it's her line of business after all. So this time, shes going to call a revenge demon to find out what happened to Emerald and to find her killer.

Only something goes a little skewy as she does her spell. Chonk, the cat she inherited from Emerald batted a strange ring into her summoning circle and she couldn't do anything to stop what happens next.

Standing in front of her were the three demon Lords of Blackwood. The highest, most powerful demons you can get. Wtf had happened??!! They were pissed. But jade kept her game face on and keeps it there.

The demons are awesome. Can't argue there! If you want to summon hot demons - there ya go! But they're so annoyed at being summoned that they're more concerned with trying to get out of the contract than solving the problem. It's a push and pull between them all. But I wish there was more tbh.

I hadn't realised this was a witchy mystery! I LOVE my demon books. I like witches when I'm in the right frame of mind but I wasn't expecting the mystery Storyline to be the star of the show.

I will be coming back to read the rest of the series but I'm not in a rush. I'm hoping the steam factor gets more... Well... Steamy!

Jade is a woman on a mission, and she's not letting anything get in the way of it. Including the unexpected appearance of 3 demon lords, who are way above the pay grade she expected when she tried her summoning spell. Jade is a strong woman who is comfortable taking what she wants, but there's not a whole lot of thought for how her actions affect those around her.

The 3 demon lords are arrogant, mean, selfish and hedonistic. They have a valid reason why they don't want to help Jade, but their methods need work.

Individually, there's not really one character amongst the lot of them that I would call likeable. They're all so focused on selfishness that they can't see much else. But somehow, it still made for compelling reading! I think I wanted to see just how far they would each go.

With a cliffhanger (aka the story just stops and will need the 2nd half) to keep us in suspense, I know I'll be back to follow the story of Jade & her 3 demons.

Plus, was that a bit of personal growth starting to peer out from amongst the selfishness and arrogance?? We'll just have to wait and see.

Thank you to Jewel Killian for my copy of this ebook. All opinions are my own.

⭐️ - Book Rating: 4.5
🌶 - Spice Rating: 4

😈 - Important Notes:
I was given an ARC from THE AUTHOR in exchange for an honest review. So, I will do just that. Additionally, there's also no spoilers in this review and everything is just basic info.

💗 - Review:
Okay, with all honesty I loved this book! However, I did struggle with the beginning primaryly because of how terribly the female character thinks of herself. (Which I heavily have an issue with across all books.) But once that part was over I read this book so quickly!!

Jade summoned Vrahs, Throne, Ryker and I read that this is a "Why Choose" book so I really do hope she ends up with all 3 of them.

Additionally, the plot of this book is so good! I really want to know what happened to Emerald so I'm off to go read the second book!

🖤 - Quick Notes:
Cheating: No.
OM/OW Drama: Mo.
Virgin Hero/Heroine: No.
Book Tropes: Enemies to Lovers, Badass FMC, "I want you but I hate you", Demon MMC's, Witch FMC
HEA: No. (Book 1/3)

Ohh I loved this murder mystery with all the extra spice! 🌶Jade is looking for some help from demons 😈 since the human police won't investigate her sister's murder. They fully believe it was suicide but Jade knows better. Jade somehow manages to summon the three infamous Lords of Blackwood. No one has ever been known to summon one, and she got all three! They all have this raw sex appeal, and the air just breaths sexual chemistry. I love that all three guys like Jade. But that doesn't stop them from making her life a living hell for having the audacity to summon them 🤣
And that scene with her bestie. 'My bullshit is your bullshit". Yes girl pop off because that's facts! Veruca was 💯 in the wrong.
I can't wait to read the next installment. I'm already head over heels for Vrahs 😈 the wings, the horns....yessss!

📚ARC review - I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review📚

If you’re looking for a spicy demon, enemies to lovers, romance with an FMC who’s a powerful witch? Maybe a bit of comedy as well? This is the book for you.

Jade is a powerful witch who summons not one but three powerful demons to help her find out who is responsible for her sisters death. The Lords of Blackwood are some of the strongest demons around and they’re pissed that a witch was able to to summon all three of them at once.

The (sexual)tension is high between Jade and the demons and the bantering is top notch.

Not only were the main characters hot and enjoyable, Veruca, Jade’s BFF was amazing and that cat was perfect I loved Chonk so much.

I cant wait to read more of Jade’s story and I’m excited to see if characters from past stories make more surprise appearances.

3.5/5🌶

See No Evil is the first book in the Demon Lords of Blackwood series, which features a polyamorous relationship between Jade and three demon Lords - Vrahs, Ryker and Thorne.
We open when Jade becomes conscious after going on a drinking bender following the gruesome suspicious death of her sister Emerald.
Encompassed in grief, Jade decides to summon a demon lord who would be indebted to her until her request was fulfilled - her sister's murderer comes to justice.
Jade gets more than she bargained for, and the three Lords are summoned, and an intense rollercoaster journey ensues.
Jewel's books are super short and quick to get through, and the only reason I haven't rated it 5 stars is that I just wish it was longer. I was lucky that I read book 1 and then 2 immediately after (review to come), but I can imagine those that had to wait were frustrated!

This book sucked me in so fast! I read it in just a few hours, and I’m trying to convince myself to do the adult thing and go to bed so I won’t be dead at work tomorrow…buuuut I think you can guess what I’ll be doing instead.

Jade is a fantastic character. She accidentally summons three extremely powerful demon lords, and instead of succumbing to their tricks and persuasions to get her to break the bargain, she fires back and retaliates to each hit. I love it! The bit with the frogs had me rolling.

The demon lords themselves are fascinating, and I absolutely cannot wait to learn more about all of them. I don’t even have a favorite yet!

Absolutely 5/5 stars and what a great start to this series. There are a few spicy scenes in this one, so I’d say it’s a medium-burn so far! Off to start book two now!

What.....

That ending....what yhe heck!!!!! Dang it!!!!! So so so good....

I loved it. The Author does an amazing job of dropping you in a world without a ton of world building that drags on forever. Instead plays with the building around a very nice plot.
I found the charcters to be well defined with attitude, personality and wit. The tension and heat between the demons and the FMC is salivating.
Jade (FMC) is a spitfire strong and compassionate woman with snark and fire coming from her wicked witchy tongue. Not only does the author sink you into wanting Jade to get everything she wants but she also makes you eager for a bond between the three strong headed demon lords.
Absolutely a fun reD with one he'll of a cliffhanger. When you read this be prepared to want the entire series.....so good.

See No Evil was a fast paced read with a cliffhanger ending. The FMC, Jade, is grieving the loss of her sister and wants to find the killer and seek revenge. She has a give no f*@k$ attitude and uses her snark and sass to keep three demon Lords in check. Oh and did I mention she is a summoning witch who accidentally summoned those hot demon Lords to help her find her sister's killer? There is a lot of angst, anger, and sexual tension with some spicy scenes. The character and world building plays out as Jade's story is unfolding. So we are finding out about who these demon Lords are at the same time as Jade, which definitely leaves the reader with a lot of questions. I cannot wait to see how Jade's story continues in the next book!

This is the first book in a new series, Demon Lords Of Blackwood, which is a steamy, paranormal, enemies to lovers, reverse harem romance; and I thought it was a fantastic start to Jade’s story.

In the wake of her sister’s death Jade seeks retribution by summoning a revenge demon. But what she gets is so much more than a simple low level revenge demon. She ends up summoning the powerful and sinfully HOT Demon Lords of Blackwood, Vrahs, Ryker, and Thorne, and they are not happy about it! Jade is adamant that they find who murdered her sister and they are determined to get rid of her.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and storyline, as well as the steam, action, and humor. I would definitely recommend it and I am super excited for the next book in the series.

Spicy Dark Paranormal Romance

See No Evil by Jewel Killian is book one in The Demon Lords of Blackwood trilogy. This is a dark paranormal why choose romance. So please check your triggers before reading. This trilogy follows the journey of Jade and the three demon lords she accidently summoned: Thorne, Ryker, and Vrahs. I wholeheartedly love all of these characters already. This book will leave you wanting more and needing to find out what happens next. The spice, oh my, is there spice. The only thing I could have wanted more from this book was MORE SPICE. Because woohoo can this author write some detailed and unique spice. Plus, add one murdered sister and the second sister trying to find the killer, how could you ask for more.

supernatural dark romance

Not usually a fan of other worldly stories and romances I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I got into this book. The author has thought up a great world in which the book is set without it being to over complicated or hard to follow. I liked the build up in character backstories and relationships before getting to some spice. The chemistry between Jade and the three Lords is apparent from the get go but it’s a lovely slow burn to get there. I am glad the FMC is a hard ass and doesn’t become weak because of the Lords and their power which a lot of books tend to do, her personality and wit are some of the best bits about this book so I can’t wait to read the other stories.

I liked the premise: FMC summons a demon to avenge her sister’s death and gets more than she bargained for. The three demon lords who run her town are not happy to be called away from their own important stuff in order to do her bidding. They’re going to do anything they can to make her life miserable in order to get her to release the bargain. A lesser woman would’ve caved. This story only works because of the FMC’s monumental, colossal brass balls. My one complaint is that the ending didn’t really feel like an ending, and yes I realize it’s because it’s a “to be continued,” but I expect each book in a series to have its own self-contained arc, and I didn’t feel like we had that with this one.

Holy cannoli it was an awesome book. Jade is this tough on the outside, soft on the inside FMC that is just trying her hardest to figure out who murdered her sister and she is willing to go to any lengths to do so. While on this journey, she summons the Lord's of Blackwood city to help her and focus herself constantly squaring off with them. It results in some seriously hilarious scenes and some spicy, where is my fan, moments.

And that ending?! Ummm can all books end that way please? Pretty please. Seriously, never loved a cliffhanger more. Now I need to run to Amazon to figure out when the next book comes out. Read this book folks!
