Counseling the Culturally Diverse

Rate this book
Talking therapy with a trained therapist involves listening to your concerns and assisting you in resolving them.
Although talking therapies in general are sometimes referred to as "counseling," counseling is also a type of therapy in and of itself.
What problems can counseling solve?
Counseling can assist you in
an upsetting physical health condition like infertility; a difficult life event like a death in the family, a breakup in a relationship, or work-related stress; difficult emotions like low self-esteem or anger; other issues like sexual identity.

Ok. I think the content in the last 3/4 or so of the book is fantastic. I’m not a fan of parts of the first chapter - I think counselors need a better resource that isn’t focused so much on stereotypes. Cultural diversity is more complex than what the authors portray in much of this book. Overall it is a good resource, but there is room for improvement.

I have to read this title for the MACP, PSY 637: Culture & Social Justice Issues class. Reading/skimming through chapters 15-20, and last week through 11-14 to see if it helped with assignment 2 paper.

The coursebook is available as a libguide, meaning it is available as an online resource/electronic version to read while in Navigate or NU login.

I read what was necessary for class and used it throughout the assigned assignments.
