In this early collection, David Keplinger presents a series of short prose poems marked by crisp images ranging from the moody to the whimsical. The clarity of his vision draws even the fantastic in reach.

David is a new addition to the creative writing faculty at American and I knew he was a poet, but didn't realize that what he writes are little prose poems. They are haunting and novel. Some of them I don't get, or I feel I do, but my favorites are ones when I don't really know what's going on but it definitely feels like something. I can't remember when I last read such an excellent a poem about a hat....

This is a nice and unusual collection of prose poems wrapped up in a book that is unquely and beautifully designed. It's a great example of how a well designed book enhances the content. The poems are brief prose poems which do what good poetry always does. They present images that provoke thought and stretch the imagination.

beautiful lyrical prose poems. reminds me of marquez's very old man with enormous wings--almost magical surrealism.
