The fourth book in the Amazon best-selling post-apocalyptic zombie series, Empty BodiesHaven't read the first book? Grab it narrowly avoiding tragedy, Will and the others hit the road and head east, looking to get Gabriel and Dylan home, while also hoping to seek refuge in the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. But the open roads present a challenge, as the group is low on gas, and has no place to call home. As stress levels rise among them, a divide begins to form. Will wants answers about what happened to him, while Gabriel only wants to get home as fast as possible. And when they encounter a new band of survivors, that divide only widens.Perfect for any fan of post-apocalyptic horror, dystopian science fiction, supernatural suspense, or the zombie apocalypse!Other books in the Bodies ( Bodies 2: Adaptation ( Bodies 3: Deliverance ( Q&First off, what is Empty Bodies?Empty Bodies is a post-apocalyptic zombie series that starts right as the inciting incident has happened. It's very fast-paced, which many readers have commented that they love. Many have even told me that they read it in one sitting. The first book focuses on three characters, written in a style similar to A Song of Fire and Ice, where each chapter tells the story of one of the characters, making it easy for the reader to follow along, even though it is jumping back and forth between characters in different parts of the country. What separates Empty Bodies from other zombie books?I don't want to give anything away, but the inciting incident as to what sparked thousands of people to turn into zombies (or Empties as they are called in the books), is a different twist on zombies from anything that I've seen in other books or movies. Readers have found it to be very refreshing. What inspired the story?Other than my love for The Walking Dead and the George Romero zombie films, the idea was sparked by two employees at my day job who like to sleep in one of our company's offices on their lunch break. We work in a 50,000 square foot industrial warehouse, and one day I just said to myself, 'I wonder what would happen if he woke up and the rest of us had turned into zombies.' And thus, Empty Bodies was born. What can readers expect out of reading the Empty Bodies series?I feel like I've written characters that you can either root for or hate, depending on which character we are talking about. The settings are all places I'm very familiar with, so they should feel very real. If you're a fan of The Walking Dead, movies like Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, World War Z, or even books such as Slow Burn, Contamination, or Zombie Fallout, then I think you'll really enjoy Empty Bodies.OTHER you like classic, campy slasher films and graphic horror? Zach Bohannon is a horror and science fiction author. His books include the Amazon #1 bestsellers, Dead South, and Empty Bodies. He loves heavy metal, video games, hockey, reading, and he doesn’t trust a beer he can see through. He’s a retired drummer, and has had a beard since 2003—long before it was cool. He lives in Tennessee.
Okay, this is the 4th of 6th ... only two more books to go in this series. This one felt a little bland to me so I'm going to take a break and read something from one of my favorite authors ... then I'll be back to this to finish the series. Sometimes it is definitely a burden to be the sort of person who has to finish any series that I start. Don't get me wrong ... theses aren't horrible books ... but, I know if I wasn't such a fan of zombie stories, I wouldn't be able to stick with it.
No surprise by either of the endings here. I don't think it's going to work out well for anyone involved. They said it. Bad shit keeps happening to them when they split up. So, not the best appraisal due to stupidity as a plot device.
Zach Bohannon has made me both live and hate his work with this episode of Empty Bodies. I am now going to cry for a little while and then read book 5.
I have the box set of this series and this installment continues the battle against the Empties.
A good cast of characters fits well into this fast-paced read. Despite a few grammatical and other errors, it's well-written with plenty of action and an intriguing twist.
Open Roads met my every expectation with as much horror, fear, loss and grief as it's possible. And the ending... Oh My Goodness! This is the apocalypse that beats them all. Open Roads, and the entire series so far is an incredible read.
On to book 5. I do like this series even though have found incorrect words used. For instance, they made the welcome center "inhabitable" - it was already inhabitable, they made it habitable!
This series keeps getting better & better! I hate that the team has split, but I'm sure they will be back together at the end. They also gained new people and lost some of those people. Will and Holly will be off to Virginia to find the priest after they lend aid to poor Dylan who has been bit. Gregory is still on his way to D.C. desperately hoping his wife and child are still alive. Think they've hit a snag tho after staying at the welcome center for the night. Things are gonna get nasty! The author has done a terrific job with his storyline and his characters. Makes me want to read more...
As the fourth installment of Bohannon's Empty Bodies series, Bohannon's Open Roads takes the series to a new level that will impress all readers who've already been hooked on the series. Delving further into the histories of established characters while upping the ante and the tension, Open Roads is impossible to put down. True to the series, it delivers twists and action within an incredibly paced parceling out of horror, and shows Bohannon to be a master storyteller.
This zombie series has me hooked. Just when you think the action cannot become more intense, the sh*t hits the fan! Also, you begin to feel for the characters. You begin to think of them as family. I did not want the group to split up but it was inevitable because their goals changed and the needs of certain members could no longer be met. Open Roads proved that nowhere is safe in this Zombie Apocalypse. Empty Bodies proves that there are monsters within us all. I cannot express how much I enjoy this series. I only hope more character diversity is explored, so that we can see how more groups are affected in this new post-apocalyptic Earth. Great job Zach! I am a Brian Keene and Iain Rob Wright fan, but now I can proudly add you to my favorite list of authors.
