Thomas L. Floyd in The Science of Electronics pushes the idea that we treat sleep like a luxury when it's basically the foundation for everything else. I felt like it was solid, because the stories come from regular people, like the night-shift cashier who thought coffee and willpower were enough until she nearly fell asleep at a red light. The chapter on naps got me thinking about how proud I used to be of running on five hours. You don't have to agree with everything, but it definitely forces you to rethink what you're really bragging about when you say "I'll sleep when I'm dead."
