The A.W.E. Project: Reinventing Education, Reinventing the Human

Matthew Fox has done it again. As one of the most prophetic voices of our time, he has created a unique new project that speaks the concerns and hopes of all of us who care about creating lives of meaning - for ourselves, our communities, our children and our children's children… The A.W.E. Project reminds us that awe is the appropriate response to the unfathomable wonder that is creation - from the magnificence of galaxies, to the complex and brilliant process of cell-differentiation, and the miracle of the humanhand (product of 14 billion years of evolution). The 10 C's are the core of the A.W.E. philosophy and process of education, and compassion, contemplation, and creativity. The A.W.E. Project does for the vast subject of "learning" what Fox's Reinvention of Work did for vocation and Original Blessing did for theology. With passion and conviction, Fox turns conventional "education" upside down, shakes out what is no longer working, and offers visions of what can be.

Timothy James "Matthew " Fox is an American priest and theologian. Formerly a member of the Dominican Order within the Catholic Church, he became a member of the Episcopal Church following his expulsion from the order in 1993.
Fox has written 35 books that have been translated into 68 languages and have sold millions of copies and by the mid-1990s had attracted a "huge and diverse following"

Brilliant possibilities, wonderful intentionality. Tools for the reassembly.
However,some limiting beliefs in a quote from James Garrison- "The modern world emphasizes the manipulative, rational, and formulating capacities of consciousness- essentially the masculine in its negative aspects."
Otherwise well put together, many referenced Ancestral thinkers.
I appreciated the references to Justice= Compassion. " And justice is beautiful- it is, like beauty, harmonious, joyful, and shareable. Something to praise. It arouses celebration. Justice like beauty, is also sustainable. Justice preserves beauty in all its forms."

A self-described manifesto, Fox's book was the type of inspiration I needed for my teaching during this difficult pandemic year. His emphasis on the intersection of cosmology, community, and identity was a welcome consideration in my own high school teaching practice.

Leggero e scorrevole, offre tanti spunti di riflessione su dove siamo diretti e fa aprire gli occhi sulle vere priorità del genere umano. Personalmente mi ha fatto davvero riflettere, anche se le proposte che suggerisce rimangano poco pragmatiche poiché parlano non tanto di azioni, ma di atteggiamento. Nonostante a volte sia un po ridondante, credo sia una lettura semplice e necessaria per tutti gli adulti di questa generazione, che sono gli educatori degli adulti di domani.
