THE LOCUS VILE RETURNS! TARN THE UNCARING and his murderous LOCUS VILE take revenge on MR. SINISTER and the HELLIONS! But the Hellions are ready for the rematch! Well...sort of.
Sinister, Sinister, Sinister... You better come up with something huge after this or Krakoa is gonna mess you up. I like this new race of sadists, the Vile, heavily inspired by Hellraiser, and that's cool.
The Hellions have no love for Sinister. Imagine, what will happen to our resident geneticist/madman after the team discover he betrayed them at the end of X of Swords. I don't think Sinister has enough clones to survive it.
A pretty fun issue with a lot of fun moments with Sinister and his dumbass. But it did feel a bit stretched out. Sad to see this series coming to a end. A 3 out of 5.
Another title that was more a 3.5 than a 4. It's good, it goes back and clears up what happened in Swords event and gives a little more context to those who died in the Otherworld and were reborn and why it seems the changed (though in typical marvel, this was then undone so they are back to normal again)
Sinister's antics are slowly catching up with him and we are seemingly moving toward a conclusion of sorts in this series or at least in this arc of the series.
My one quibble is whilst I enjoy humorous Sinister this seems to have come at the expense of him losing all his powers. He's completely useless and about 7 or 8 of him are getting off hand butchered by random mutants... They should probably rename him Mr Chuckles at some point soon.
All by itself, this issue is pretty filler. It was pretty much just a fight scene between the Hellions and these mutants from Amenth. Except most of the Hellions didn't do very much fighting. There were multiple Sinister clones. The writers persisted in emphasizing "funny" Sinister, of course, because they keep thinking readers will actually enjoy that.
This issue left me very, very cold. But at least it hinted at telling us what Sinister's goal was in collecting DNA samples from Amenth. I guess.
First off, I should mention the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage variant cover by InHyuk Lee, because it’s simply gorgeous, and if you have a chance to pick it up you definitely should. The regular cover by Stephen Segovia is nice, but the InHyuk Lee variant is just on another level.
Okay, but what about the actual comic, ‘cos we don’t just buy comics for their pretty covers, do we? (Yes, ok, so sometimes I do.) It’s…ok… A little muddled and a bit confusing. Tarn and the Locus Vile are back, which basically means that everyone is talking nonsense for most of this issue. And maybe I’m just tired but that didn’t really work for me.
What is significant is that Tarn reveals to the Hellions that Sinister killed them all, causing Sinister and his clone to flee…but not before revealing that he’s been working on chimera. Now, if you’ve been paying attention and have a good memory, you’ll remember that chimera played a big part in the future sections of HoX/PoX. Many people had been wondering when they were going to show up again, and it would seem that the answer to that is – soon.
The art is similarly just ok. It suffered in comparison to Larraz and Gracia’s work on X-Men #2, which I read immediately before this. There’s some nice work here, but, you know…it’s not Larraz…because nobody’s Larraz except Larraz.
Still, important things happened in this issue, and it’s moved the plot along, and I’m excited for the consequences of everything in this issue.

So now they know what happened after their trip to Amenth. And Sinister of course runs away. Slippery bastard. Messing with Storm is a mistake that, I think, Tarn will regret. I really do hope Greycrow takes his eyes...
Second reading: Tarn and Sinister would make sense as friends. But I didn't remember that Tarn stole back the Amenth mutation from Wildchild. That's interesting.
