Fast-paced romance
This was fast-paced and required a little imagination at times
But overall it was a solid read that kept me engaged
Valentina is a single mom working toward building a solid foundation for her and her son
Stability - No drama -
All the things Derek wasn't
When her well-outlined plan goes up in smoke she finds herself with no choice but to accept the handsome stranger's help
Derek had pretty much tuned the world out and was hyper-focused on his career - Until his wife took it from him
She is a piece of work
Now he has nothing but time and days on his hands

The anxiety I had while reading this was so overwhelming. Such an emotional and intense experience. I love the dynamic between Derek and Valentina.
This was a fast paced and engaging story. I can’t wait to read more about this wonderful couple.

Wow, just wow. This book took me on a trip. I haven’t felt this level of stress or emotion in a while for a contemporary romance. This book had my anxiety ramped up to a 10 and I felt all the emotions. Valentina is an amazing woman who has had to struggle her way through life and here is the HOT Billionaire Derek Cole! I love their dynamic and just the inability to stay away from each other! This is a must read.

Very poorly written
Very unrealistic for Derek to lose controlling interest in his company to his soon to be ex wife who was no married to him for a matter of months, who was only working in his company for a matter of months. No board is going to do something so ridiculous over him tearing up his own cottage after finding his wife cheating on him. It was ridiculous foolishness. He has the money for top lawyers, making it even more ridiculous this plot being written.
Ridiculous that Valentina is touted as having bad credit when she has a hospital bill due to an illness her child had, and she’s making regular payments in form of a payment plan. That builds good credit, not make for her having bad credit. Now we’re at two serious flaws in this story and it’s how the story starts off!
Why is Valentina fixing up the cottage he caused destruction in?
Her first day of work and the soon to be ex calls her in to her office to confront her about living in “her” cottage, told the relationship is strictly business after the ex asks if she’s sleeping with “her husband”, then proceeds to tell her to do so to get him to sign their divorce papers? Three strikes and your out, but this isn’t baseball, I press on reading, but seriously consider dropping the book altogether after reading this ridiculousness. And this is now only nine chapters in!
Then the cliché writing of high, have to tell him what his ex said, but a whole week goes by and doesn’t get done, then she is resolved to tell him at the function she ends up attending, yet they fall into having sex and nothing is told bs. Yawn. She is worried about his ex-wife, who the cottage does not belong to by the way, she’s not living there, kicking her out, it is Derek that leased it to her, he’s the one that can kick her out. Is she too stupid for this realization? She’s already too stupid not to have gone to HR and reporting sexual harassment by the ex at the workplace,She’s already too stupid not to have gone to HR and reporting sexual harassment by the ex in the workplace. One would think that she would want to hurry up and tell him so that being kicked out would not happen, because she’s all worried about having just moved her son there. Come on. There was some redemption here though.
She got pregnant at 19, currently 24, so how is it that things happened with her ex, father of her child, SIX years ago? And the child is now 5? Sure child could be 5 if she got pregnant very shortly after turning 19, it did say she got pregnant the FIRST week of school. Later the friend referenced it being six years since last had sex before Derek. MATH IS OFF!
Why does her ex know where she’s living? He would not. She wouldn’t have given him that information, so why is he at Derek’s house? There was absolutely no reason for him to have shown up there, it made less than zero sense. It was crap written in for drama that further diminished the book. It was more ridiculousness. Then it immediately goes to worse with Valentina walks in the house, and Nikki, former booty call, is in there, unknown to Derek. How does she even get to the house? Who let her in without his permission? Everybody else has to have permission to get in. Then the cliche woman response from Valentina, who runs off. Serious eye rolling at this point. Just bad writing. I hate not finishing a book I start, which is very infrequently done, but well on the way to getting there with this one. Then the author wrote the mess again, but this time in reverse with Derek being the one title some false info, believes the stupid thing, despite the fact that Nikki had just snuck in his house and he never thinks of her. And she just up and confessed and it was never recorded. Dom is Derek’s friend and lawyer, the most incompetent lawyer who doesn’t know how to handle anything. Brigit doesn’t get to just file papers and it’s done. Brigit spreads Valentina being reason for the divorce when it’s been over six months for the divorce being started? And I’m done. This book’s story was so poorly written, it is not even a little bit good. I will not be reading the second book.

This is the first book in the 'Stolen Hearts Duet' and wow, it had me hooked from the start!
Talk about straight in with the action - Derek Cole walks in on his bride of 10 months in bed with his accountant, takes off on his motorcycle and stops opposite a cafe due to a rainstorm, only to be drawn in by a student sitting in the cafe, drinking coffee. Somehow, Valentina calms and soothes him - something they both benefit from over the next few months, silently seeking the calm they both bring to each other without talking every morning until one day Derek overhears Valentina's upset call about a rental falling through. Against his gut instinct, Derek starts a conversation and ends up offering a cottage on his estate to Valantina as a rental and then the real magic starts. They both tried hard to resist each other but neither can deny the attraction, despite Valantina having a young son and, as it turns out, having Derek as a boss. Can Derek's calculating soon to be ex (who also co-manages Derek's company) manage to come between her ex and her employee in order to satisfy her own needs or can Derek and Valentina's instant attraction overcome everything that is standing in the way of true happiness?
I honestly could not put this book down and read it in a day - if you love an age gap, Billionaire romance full of intrigue, steam, forgiveness, single parent and did I mention steam, then you will love this. Although this book does end on a cliffhanger, 'Unravel You' has already been released so you don't have to wait long to find out how this romance ends - I'm off to read book 2

Valentina is a struggling student who is doing her very best to keep it all together. Derek is drawn to her, but after everything, is so unsure of himself around her.
The Characters were easy to like and really well written. They are both drawn to each other but have their own baggage to deal with, so they do their best in navigating through this. What starts out as an innocent arrangement, soon turns into so much more
Derek is always unsure of himself around Valentina and says the wrong things. They are both hurting from their pasts, so they struggle to trust and Derek jumps to conclusions when the relationship is tested.
This was a really sweet, enjoyable contemporary romance that is hard to put down. I'm looking forward to seeing how things play out in their future together

Valentina and Derek Cole. A billionaire and a single mother. Valentina has a plan and always makes lists. This one is the best yet because her son will be with her all the time not just weekends. But she needs to find a home first. And it is not working too well. But right now she is at her favorite Cafe and as usual writing a list. She notices a very attractive man coming in quite a lot and sits at a table nearby. This has been going on for a while. They never speak to each other but they both sure look. Next thing you know they start talking. And what do you know one lost soul recognizes another lost soul. BUT what next? Their fears and insecurities are running rampant. Could it be that this is the best time to open up? How far could this go? Sometimes you need to be bold! Get ready for one of the best stories that could tear your heart out!

First Diana did an amazing job writing this book, Single mom, billionaire and strangers to lover theme going on. My heart broke for Derek the beginning of this book. His exwife sucked totally could punch her. But that whole drama let to Val which is amazing. He wants to help her out but of course she does not feel deserving. She just wants to be a good mom and give her son a great home life. Also that cliffhanger was so frustrating and made me want to punch Derek's mom. Omg the thing Derek and Val went through some crap. That ex wife needs a slap so made I couldn't not believe what she did with that other chick. This book was so good and well written. The spice was well written and good too.

Good Book
I liked Derek & Valentina from their first introduction.
They are really good together but wasn’t sure if Derek was on an anger rebound after what Bridget did to him.
The whole back story of embezzlement could have been stronger it’s like it was a mild inconvenience.
Also in this first book I would have expected more about firing the board etc when he got his company back after all it’s what he wanted the whole of this book but the author just seemed to brush past that fact when in reality he would have went in to crisis mode to fix what Bridget did.
I also didn’t buy the ending as he would never had had that call on speaker knowing what his mother feels about him leaving etc.
Let’s see what the next book brings to see if I get answers that are left from this one.

This book instantly drew me in because billionaire/ single mom is my favorite troupe.
The chemistry between the two of them was off the charts 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I felt like it was a second chance for love for both characters. Nothing like finding your wife with your accountant to throw your world upside down.

This was definitely a really cute lighthearted story with a lot of up and downs. The plot and characters were well written which just made everything that much better.
Derek and Valentina had really good chemistry. They are both very passionate people and that showed in how they loved each other and in how they would do anything for someone/thing they love.
I would say that some parts were a bit predictable it was still very much enjoyable. It does end on a mini cliffhanger🥲 cant wait to continue reading about their journey in the next book. Would definitely recommend this book!!

I think this is more of a 3.5⭐️ read. It started a little slow, but then the story actually picked up and I was hooked. Like usual I needed to find out the ending. But … the end isn’t really the end since I have to now read the next book. I need to know what happens between Valentina and Derek. I love a love story, especially ones with happy endings. Which is entirely why I need to read the next book! (I already downloaded it 😂)

This book was a super cute second Chance story for both of the main characters. I loved the chemistry between the soon to be divorcee and single mom. Even though they had a HEA the ending is still some what of a cliffhanger. The theme of forgiveness was through out the story and that made it that much sweeter.

Cliffhanger that is not necessary
This book ended on a cliffhanger without any warning. The book was not good enough as it is. Poor plot, shallow, silly characters. I had to skim it just to get through it and then it didn't even end. Derek is a young, self made billionaire that is an idiot. He lets his wife take his company, steal him blind and he's totally clueless.

Started off okay. An older man with a younger woman - who has a child, whom, I am unsure why he is introduced because he doesn't play into the story whatsoever. Once they get to the spice, it's just spice. The story falls completely apart. I was totally turned off with the ending. Two stars for meh.

This book definitely grabbed and held on to my attention. Derek's and Valentina's story was angsty, heart wrenching, and passionate! They make you vote for them threw the whole book. There's a twist I wasn't expecting but it definitely added to the character and story development!!

I've been a fan of Diana Hicks since I discovered the Raven Duet and this book didn't disappoint!! Valentina and Derek's love story doesn't come easily but they eventually find their way together. A great weekend read!! I can't wait to read the conclusion of their story in book 2!!

i won this books in a giveaway and i wasn’t sure what to think going into it but i was pleasantly surprised. the characters were well written and the plot had a lot of depth. it was overall an easier, but still very good, read

What's not to like? Val and Derek each have crosses to bear, but, wouldn't it be much better to help carry each other's crosses?

I’d give this 4.5 stars. I loved it! Loved the characters and it continues into the next book (Unravel You)

Single mom, college student and billionaire married man going through a divorce after finding his wife cheating on him with their accountant. Valentina is trying to find a place to live for her and her son and Derek is trying to deal with a divorce and wife who is trying to take his company from him. He offers his cottage behind his house to Valentina after months of stalking her at a coffee shop. Even though she doesn't need the complication, especially once she finds out he is her boss at her new job, she can't help their connection. Valentina is used as an escape goat to blame on how his ex-wife played them both to get what she wanted. Derek has to decide if he believes his newly found love interest of his ex-wife.

Good love story. Was not thrilled about how the ex wife’s part of the storyline played out. Will read the next one because I did enjoy the main characters.
