One of the worst books I have read in my life and here's why:
- The writer was torn between Colloquial and Classical Arabic which weakened the novel.
- The writer was obviously not consistent in his use of writing. It felt weak in certain areas. He didn’t focus much on the wife’s feelings except in one paragraph.
- The plot sucked major time. The husband was a major jerk who lacked an once of decency towards his wife and mother of 3 kids. He viewed her as a robot whose main role was to take care of the house and kids. Never did he appreciate her sacrifice. On the contrary he payed her back by betraying her with another woman.
- I hate how the husband is the only one to be blamed for his infidelity. It takes two. The girlfriend was also to blame. She knew he was married and he was of different religion, so there was no way of being together, so she shouldn't have played the role of the victim. She knew the relationship was doomed from the start so it was absurd to feel sorry for herself.
-I was outraged at how the wife remained oblivious to her husband’s infidelity and life just went on. She sacrificed her youth and her health for this marriage while her husband denied her the least amount of respect and appreciation for her hard work. I hated the ending so much. He doesn’t deserve her kindness.
-I felt the book was an open adv. for the restaurants and bars in Helton Nile. I hope he was paid for that ( just kidding).
