Read this one for a class. It's an interesting look at ideas about engineering in the US, but really could have used more funding and a longer, more in-depth study. I completely agree that rather than small-time, one-off PR campaigns there should be a national idea and push for what engineering is. I'm not sure they really followed up on all possible angles and ideas, but it's a really, really good start in the right direction.
