Celebrate the love of your life. Let Mickey and friends thoughtfully express your appreciation and love.Rich vintage artwork and delightful, original text capture the whimsey and charm of Disney's beloved characters, making 'I Thought of You Today' the perfect gift.
I can with all honesty say that every day for the last 14 years since my beloved wife passed away I have had the sentiments in this title pass through my mind, no wonder when we get to the book itself the phrase is supplemented by the words 'It happens often' - I fully understand that!
It is a lovely little book (one for the miniature collection) which elaborates on the title with a series of other events that follow on from that first sentiment. And it is augmented by splendid vintage artwork from the Disney studios; many of the famous characters are portrayed.
The example of how the quotations follow on is best demonstrated by the second one in the book (the title and its supplement is the first), which is 'I couldn't help it if I tried - You mean that much to me' - again completely understandable.
'I'll think of something that you said, or somewhere fun we've been' is accompanied by Mickey and Minnie Mouse laughing as they go visiting in their car and the pair are together again, this time suitably attired, arm in arm waltzing down the street, as we read, 'Next thing you know I'm skipping down the street I used to walk' - yes, the ghosts are sometimes there as one covers much visited ground.
Goofy makes an appearance when the 'goofy grin comes sneaking back' and Donald Duck is there when 'I'm certain that the sky has changed. It's definitely bluer'. And there is mention of flowers in bloom, 'I don't recall so many', and the songbirds who 'sitting in the trees chatter back and forth in rhyme'. As with all the other remarks in the book, they all relate back to the fact that 'I thought of you today'.
The final messages are, 'Yes, the birds and bees and flowers, the sky and sun above ... They've figured out my secret - They all know I'm in love'. And then, 'So if you catch me smiling for no reason, don't dismay. I'm just happy 'cause I thought of you today.' So true but I should add that (in my case anyway) they are sometimes tears to go along with those smiles.
It is a lovely book and one that can be read and much enjoyed time after time, so, 'I thought of you today and smiled ...'
