Quarantine reading. I thought this was decent but it was clearly too old for my toddler. She didn't buy that the various stages were actually ladybugs.
This book is all about the life cycle of a ladybug. It is student-friendly and very informative with an easy-to-read text. The pictures are real life photos and are beautiful. I think this book could be used for Kindergarten through second or third grade. At the beginning of this book, it introduces words the reader will need to know and a pronunciation guide for those vocabulary words. These same vocabulary words are also at shown in the glossary at the end of the story. This book also includes an index and other ladybug resources. You could use this book as a resource for Science if you are learning about ladybugs, life cycles, or if students are doing research on insects.
These titles use large, crisp, color photos and short, simple sentences to engage very young readers in learning about the growth stages of different animals. In A Ladybug Larva Grows Up, the larvae change colors and grow into pupas, then adult ladybugs, all shown in excellent photos. A photographic Word Hunt with pronunciation guide at the beginning introduces words the reader will need to know; the words are repeated at the end in a glossary. An index and resources for further study are included. This is a solid series on animals for first grade units.
