Silas has lived his entire life in a tiny, floating workshop in the ass end of the galaxy with his tinkerer lover. When a tall, dark, and dangerously handsome technophiliac murders his tinkerer in search of a code, Silas is thrown from the only home he’s ever known, out into a universe teeming with monsters. Stranded and terrified, he’s rescued by a massive Reptilian named Loc with a bad attitude and a well-earned wariness toward anything remotely human. The last thing Loc expects is for a human to worm its way through his defenses. Or for that damn human to lead him on a chase through the galaxy when the charming technophiliac discovers his precious code did not die with the tinkerer.
Sam Clover writes m/m smut. Usually that smut is wrapped in a speculative fiction package and teeming with violence and dark themes. But smut is so much fun to write that you will most likely see it woven throughout her narratives, regardless of the genre.
In the real world, she is pan/demi. She's a humanist atheist, politically left, and lives in Western Canada with her Furbabies.
Violent Horizons is a sci-fi dystopian space opera from author Sam Clover. The action flows around our three main characters: Silas, Loc, and Tejas (the green-eyed man). In addition to a more mainstream get-together romance between Silas and Loc, the addition of Tejas makes for an enticing and altogether separate array of character dynamics. Silas is arguably a version of the archetypal good-guy; Loc is his often irate lover who goes along with the do-gooding because it keeps Silas happy; and Tejas is a marvelously deviant wild card.
The tone of the book really sets it apart from a lot of sci-fi I have read. Clover absolutely does not shy away from getting violent or gory, even with our main characters.
Not for the faint of heart, but very steamy dark monsterf*cking romance. The contrast of innocence and utter sexy filth was intense. Action in space meant there was never a dull moment
Do not read this expecting goodness and light. It's twisted and there are worms and aliens and high stakes and so much hot man on man sex
You will either love this or hate this, I really don't see much in between, because of the content
