Three Stories You Can Read to Your Cat

Rate this book
Snuggle up with your kitty and read these action-packed tales aloud to him or her. They are very funny stories about the things cats like to do, and they have lots of amusing pictures. Invite your cat to come hear a story - but ask nicely! Cats hate being told what to do.

A delightful book that will resonate with any cat lover (or non-cat lover too). Captures the spirit of the fline personality as its owned caretaker reads to it. Three stories, easily read and enjoyed. Colorful illustrations. Children and early YA. (and me)

Cute little book my sister shared with us this Christmas -- a family favorite of theirs which we somehow missed! My nephew used to enjoy reading these to his cat so I have it on the highest authority that they really DO WORK! ;) Clever and fun for feline lovers of all ages.

This is a cute little book and would be a great beginning chapter book for a kid to read aloud to a cat. Best of all, the featured cat in the illustrations is an adorable black-and-white kitty. Zelda had nothing but complete and utter disregard for this book and abandoned me reading it aloud for a window.

The concept of reading to pets is better than the pet stories here. I think it is the language of telling the cat a story about himself that doesn't work for me.

So many leveled readers are about friends, from Frog and Toad Are Friends to Minnie and Moo: The Case of the Missing Jelly Donut and beyond. But 4-7 (?) year old children do have other interests, like the inner lives of pets! I'm delighted to have discovered this series, especially if the next ones are as funny, heartfelt, and true as this. I want to share these stories with my adult son who also thinks cats are cuddly, but not necessarily all that bright.

As soon as I spotted this book on the library shelves, I knew it was going to be amazing. I read this entire short story aloud to my dog after a trip to the library. She appeared disintrested and tired. I wish I had an actual cat who I could read this to, but alas I am stuck with a dog. Overall, an entertaining story with simplistic writing! I loved every second of it and I'm sure your cat would too.

I remember my mom reading this book to me and my cat when I was younger. I hated the Yummy Bug story! But the art is very cute and I think all cats would love the stories, if they could understand them.

Three Stories You Can Read to Your Cat is an amusing book that children and adults will enjoy. Author Sara Swan Miller begins this book by making the assumption that the reason your cat sleeps a lot is because they are bored and since a cat cannot read, you should do a nice thing for your cat and read this book to them. The book is a great book for children who are ready to transition from picture books to easy to read chapter books. There are three chapters in this book and each is an entertaining story about your cat. The writing is witty and I enjoyed reading it as much as my child did hearing it. The illustrations are simplistic but something anyone who has or has ever owned a cat can relate to. I like this story because it can encourage a child to read aloud which is a necessary skill to have. There is also a book for those of you who prefer canine companions to felines called Three Stories You Can Read to Your Dog.

Well, I didn't do as the book asked and read these stories quietly to myself instead of aloud to my cat. I still thought they were adorable and very true to cat-like behavior. It's probably a good thing I didn't read this aloud to my cat, because I wouldn't want to give him any ideas.

Also, a note on the cover: I love how "meta" it is. A cat staring at book which has the same cover as the book he's on. Whoa.

This is part of a series by Sara Swan Miller and True Kelley, and they are 4 of the absolute best books you can give to your young animal lovers who are just beginning to read. If the child doesn't have a cat, well then, you can give them Three Stories You Can Read to Your Dog and Three More Stories You Can Read to Your Dog. Short, funny stories that will make your child and their dog laugh out loud. I'm not sure if the cat will laugh, but they will certainly sit and listen...

These are fun stories to read to your cat. It's a bit silly, but they are good tales of kitty antics, ones that most cat owners can relate to. And our girls thought they were cute, even if we couldn't convince our cat to listen to them. We enjoyed reading this book together.

An excellent twist--great for an early independent reader who's a cat lover, but heck, I loved it too. Cat psychology in easy words for the win! heh heh heh. Owned by my sister the children's librarian, so I don't need a copy.

This book is odd but as a cat owner, I do get the concept. This would be a great transitional book, it looks to have three "chapters" or, separate stories, children can read to their little feline companion. Great way for beginner readers to get comfortable reading aloud.

I'm a sucker for anything cat related. This book is told in the 2nd person, as it is designed for a young person to read to his/her cat. I especially liked the third story, as the cat's definition of "good" is so not the same as a human's.

This is a really cute book, even if our kitty got up halfway through "The Yummy Bug." he came back and we finished the story.

I couldn't resist reading this to the cats. The stories were cute. I especially liked the one about eating the bug. There is a sequel as well as ones made for reading to dogs.
