I am still VERY much enjoying this series, the only thing slowing me down in my reading progression for these books (besides time) is waiting to be able to share each chapter with my hubby, who read and loved the series as a boy. :) However, this is yet another series that is marked for Young Adult that children have NO business reading! There are two very graphic scenes in this third chapter that I definitely would NOT recommend any parent allow their children to read, the second even being rather intense to both of us adults (and my husband's a horror movie buff!).
However, like I said, I am still VERY MUCH enjoying these books and cannot wait to read more! The authors do a wonderful job of slowly fleshing out their characters, and many of them, especially the females, grow quite a bit in this number. I am rather disappointed, though, at one of the characters in particular that they have just shunted from being a main to a minor -- even though his decision to leave the clan still speaks volumes of how well they flush out their characters, and how much... for lack of a better term, humanity each of these well-established cats have!
I still definitely recommend this series to cat lovers -- IF you are of age and have a strong heart! I literally was intending to buy the first couple of books of this series for a good friend -- not anymore. She's too sweet a lady to be able to handle these two particular scenes, especially the one towards the very end. Although that is DEFINITELY NOT a cat to mess with!
