Mental Poisoning

Rate this book
Tortured souls. Human beings, whose self-confidence and peace of mind have been torn to shreds by invisible darts—the evil thoughts of others. Can envy, hate, and jealousy be projected through space from the mind of another? Do poisoned thoughts like mysterious rays reach through the ethereal realm to claim innocent victims? Will wishes and commands born in hate gather momentum and like an avalanche descend upon a helpless man or woman in a series of calamities? Must humanity remain at the mercy of evil influences created in the minds of the vicious? Millions each year are mentally poisoned—are you safe from this scourge? Mental Poisoning is the title of a book written by Dr. H. Spencer Lewis, which fearlessly discloses this psychological problem. It is sensational in its revelations. Read it and be prepared.

meh.. in my opinion, this books is pretty bad. This book only benefits only those kind of people who are blind believers aka sheeple. The author tries to prove that curses and magic simply doesn't exist and the mind is the poison that makes us all suffocate, which I agree with the self destructive part but not the forces/magic facts.
this book misleads people to believe in one side from the other, ignoring the crucial fact of our mystical world and its forces. Thus, I give it two stars, only because it stirred up my knowledge and assured me that my knowledge and understanding is right, to me

Just good common sense stuff about keeping your mind free from the negative thoughts that others attempt to plant in your mind. Also, raises keenness in ability to recognize abusive personalities to optimize avoidance.

The byline: Anyone can be a victim of mental poisoning. You don't have to be one of them. Learn the facts...

A nice read.

Without spoiling the book for other readers, it made me look at different ways to think about certain things and people in my life.

Although on the surface this book feels outdated because it was originally published in the 1920s, if one contemplates what H. Spencer Lewis is saying and puts it into a modern context, it appears very timely. The arguments in the book explain the mentality of anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorists and mass media marketers who get rich off of selling lies and snake oil. The reader finishes the book with a better understanding of the power of suggestion, inception and hypochondria.

I read a copy from 1964 but I hope the updated version has reworked outdated, imperialist language.

. A Bit Dated, But a Nice Little Tome

While the writing is a bit out of date, the advice is tireless. Although a bit out of touch with contemporary germ theory, the core advice, that the mind creates many of the troubles we face based on the ill concieved observations of often times ill-meaning people, is as sound today as it ever was.

Snares of the Modern Mind

This book is a timeless classic as regards the need to understand and be master of our own thoughts. We all need to be mindful of the gulfs of ignorance that lie uncharted in the maelstrom of consciousness.
