Alors que toute la famille attend la mort de la Grand-mère pour toucher l’héritage, celle-ci arrive soudainement, bien vivante, à Roulettenbourg.
Son arrivée bouleverse tout.
Capricieuse, énergique et têtue, elle découvre la roulette… et s’y jette avec passion.
Au grand désespoir de sa famille, elle perd en quelques jours une grande partie de sa fortune.
La ruine de la famille est complète.
Tous ceux qui rêvaient de son héritage — le général, de Grieux, et même Polina — voient leurs espoirs s’effondrer.
Son arrivée bouleverse tout.

un roman ecrit en 1 mois par dostovsky,
premier livre fait a la stenographie (dictée)
une évolution des personnages a la fatalité destinée (surtout alexandre ivanovitch)
une caricature de l'Europe de l’ouest vu par un russe tout en parlant d’argent, d’addiction et de sujet d’epoque (présentation des casinos et leurs vices)
livre assez court que je conseille vivement de lire.
