The Kissing Booth #1.5

The Beach House

Rate this book
A companion novella for The Kissing Booth, by Reekles.

It's summer, and for Rochelle and her best friend Lee, that means one thing: The beach house. They've spent every summer of their lives there, but things are different this year. For one thing, Rochelle is dating Lee's older brother Noah, who's also going to be there with them. Summer at the beach house has never been more fun - and never has it been more upside-down and inside-out. From kissing to sunbathing to volleyball, summer this year is going to be one hell of a ride.

No! This can’t be over! I need more! Noah, Lee and Elle, I’m going to miss you! They were more than simple characters in a book. They were almost real to me. I loved these two stories about the three of them. And I want another book. And I’m disappointed because Beth wrote on Wattpad that there will not be another book about them. I mean... why not?! These characters deserve more! 😞
P. S. This novella needs a movie! Just saying.

Read this after watching the movie The Kissing Booth, and needing a little more. If you loved the movie, don't read this. It ruins the story and overall it just kind of... sucked.

This isn’t actually a sequel as the events of this novella happen during the same time The Kissing Booth is set.

While it was nice to have a little more of these characters, nothing much happens. I found myself wishing I hadn’t read it because I didn’t really enjoy where Reekles took the story.

Oof.

The Beach House is a novella that takes place between The Kissing Booth and Going the Distance, featuring Noah's last summer before college with Elle.

The story is mainly just fluff for a while, but then the last five or so chapters decide to go full drama. There's a scene where Noah gets ridiculously angry with Elle over nothing, and while Elle is rightfully p'd off at him, it gets ultimately brushed over.

Lee and Elle were cute for the most part, but that ending...

The last scene was really good, though. Nice metaphor.

2.5/5 stars. I have my own issues and praise for The Kissing Booth, which I'll write a full review of at some point. But I do definitely think the movie was better, so I'll be getting to the Netflix sequel after I read Going the Distance. But this novella's "twist" or whatever you want to call it was really bad and unnecessary. Let's see how the sequel book is, I guess. Let's hope.

To be honest, I haven't read the first book...but I watched the movie and wanted more of the characters so when I found this, I couldn't resist.

I'm not sure what I expected but I can't even say this is what I wanted. I don't know how this compares to the first book (see reason above) but I wanted more time between Elle and Noah. That's what I wanted to see, and I got very little of that. Add in the events of the Truth or Dare and well....I didn't love this. I just thought the events that happened in ToD didn't need to happen and it was done to blow things up between characters for unnecessary drama with no actual resolution.

Maybe I'll have better luck with the actual book.

0.5/5 stars.

Absolutely nothing important happens in this book. It just goes into more detail on the beach holiday they had at the end of the book "The Kissing Booth". That's it. No character development or anything interesting happens. The same old nonsense just keeps repeating throughout the book.

I wanted a bit more after the movie, but didn’t feel like jumping right to the book.
I was so dissapointed by this... it adds nothing to the story, it doesn’t even closes their stories. If you wanted to see what happens when Noah goes to college, you won’t find the answers here it ends the same way

Anyway, outstanding.

Pre-ordered and read via Kobo!

The Beach House follows on from events that took place in The Kissing Booth. If you haven't read that one, I recommend you do, as the characters and setting is a lot easier to understand. This short read follows all of the main characters Noah, Lee and Elle as they spend a summer vacation away at a gorgeous beach house just before the end of the summer break. It was quick and easy to read, quite dialogue-driven. It was just meh overall for me!

DNF WITH ONLY 4 WATTPAD SHORT CHAPTERS LEFT!!!

You know that shit bored the ever loving fuck out of me when I don't push through and try to finish a book with only a little bit left. Seriously, it would have only been like 15-20 mins reading tops, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

The plot was wandering and is entirely unnecessary to overall story. It just goes into more detail about the beach holiday that takes place at the end of The Kissing Booth, and you learn pretty much nothing new about the characters. Nothing of significance happens other than Noah being a douche and Elle and him having a fight. The main "drama" of this short story is something that you already know is resolved in The Kissing Booth. Unless something happens in those last few chapters, absolutely nothing important happens.

cute cute cute cute fluffy read. liked it alot. no substance and practically nothing was resolved even tho a problem was introduced (basically was like "oh no whats gonna happen after this" every five pages but the ending was literally "i guess we'll just see what happens and not worry about it") but it was still fluffy and cute. more happened with the friendship instead of the romantic relationship and i was like why. but oh well

This is a cute in between for The Kissing booth, it is about the trip to the Lakehouse more in depth before Noah goes off to college at the end of the first book. It's a short novella, only about 90 pages, but a cute read if you want to see the two of them together more. I am eager to start book two, to find out how senior year goes for Lee and Elle.

Re-read

Read this in one sitting since it’s only 110 pages but definitely is a must read the The Kissing Booth series!

It fits perfectly between Kissing Booth 1 and Kissing Booth 2 with the summer at the Beach House

A nice, easy read, perfect to get you into the summer mood!

It was extra ordinarily boring 😒
Does Elle know she practically cheated on her boyfriend 😑?
Think it from the flip side what if Noah had done the same?
All three stars are for Noah and Noah only

The Beach House by Beth Reekles is about having fun in the summer.
Will Elle get her perfect summer at the Beach House?
Elle Evans
Rochelle "Elle" Evans wants to enjoy her summer before her senior year of high school the same as it always has been for her, Lee, and Noah. They can act like kids at the Flynn's beach house if they want to. Elle is still the same character as I remember her from reading the first book, and it's great. I love her friendship with Lee and how comfortable she is in her relationship with Noah.
The Beach House CRNoah, Lee, and Rachel
Noah is Elle's boyfriend, and they are extremely cute together, and this little novella makes it even more adorable. However, Noah has to leave the beach house early which is a bummer for everyone involved, including Lee and Elle. Lee is Noah's little brother and Elle's bestest friend since they were born. I love how Lee and Elle are so sure in their friendship that they are just supposed to be friends and nothing else. On the other hand, for poor Elle, Rachel is a sore subject. Elle wants to be happy for Lee, but she's unsure about Rachel. Elle just needs to spend some time with Rachel to see if it's just the nerves talking or if Rachel really is jealous of Elle and Lee's friendship.

These four are pretty much cute together, and I hope that Elle and Rachel can be friends for Lee's sake since Elle needs to have a girl that's a friend in her life besides all these guys that she is hanging around with all the time.
Five Stars
My rating for The Beach House by Beth Reekles is five stars, and I am happy to recommend it to anyone that likes to read young adult contemporary romances. Not only that but to at least pretend for a short while to be in sunny California down by the beach soaking up those rays. Ms. Reekles has transported me from Montana to the shores of southern California easily. I love Elle, Noah, Lee, and Rachel, which means that I can't wait to dive into Going the Distance as soon as I'm done here. That happens to be right now!

The story takes place between the first book and the second.

Finally it's summer vacation for Ella and it's the perfect occasion to meet her friends Lee and Noah at the beach and at their parents' home. And this year nothing will be the same, Ella is Noah's official girlfriend and she is over the moon. Between the sea, the sun and the parties she doesn't know what to think.

But soon the separation will happen because she will have to go back to Harvard and will it be possible to have a long distance relationship between them? And Lee seems to be more and more distant. Could this be the end of the trio?

A book read in one go, so much so I've hooked on the story, which is so gripping, addictive, captivating, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters. I love the author's writing.

If you’re a fan of the movie, fair warning that this book focuses more on Lee and Elle than Noah and Elle. But for a simple novella follow-up, it’s entertaining, simplistic, and endearing. We all have that one summertime memory or place that always holds a special part of our heart. This novella will bring you right back.
