And did anyone else fall for Nick? I'd like to meet a guy like him, but most likely wont. This is why people escape the harsh, cruel world of reality! Any one else feel the same? ;)

“That's the trick. People deceive and they lie."
"Then why do you fight to protect us?”
"Because... every time I think it's not worth it, I come across some one who makes me rethink that."
"Like who?"
"Like... a smart-mouth Cajun who worships the ground his mother walks on, for one. And a woman who's willing to debase herself to feed her son. That kind of love reminds me of the human I once was. People like you, your mom, Rosa deserve some to watch your backs."
— Kyrian

Book 2 of this sadly only two-part series has Nick seeing more of the supernatural world around him, meeting new creatures, including the inhabitants of Sanctuary, and confronting another supernatural entity. Sanctuary + perspicacity = animals everywhere (and a very cute human form Wren). It is based on Invisible. I really like the story, the ending makes me happy.

Some art and character design rant. Simi's demon form is badass while somehow being just as cute as she is. Apparently, my adoration for Caleb has not faded at all since I last read con. He's still one of the best characters. And he's still got one of my fave demon forms. Laguerre's design is brilliant. She is the personification of war, having her be soft, fun or sweet. She's in a fecking catsuit... I mean just yes. Death is as abstract and odd as I'd hoped. His is the sort of design that will always be out of place.

I wish there had been more than two of these graphic novels. CoN is a series that translates to graphic for exceptionally well. And given the series target audience, it is also well suited. Again this will make sense to people who haven't read the CoN novels but it will make more sense if you've read book one.

"Sim? A hand please?"
"Really? Can Simi barbecue him?"
"Bin appetit, babe."

Good Visual

It was okay but honestly I liked the novel more. But the comic/manga was a good visual to have along with the novel.

Continuation: Nick found out that Kyrian had fangs & kinda freaked - he meets Simi too later - and anyway people are dying - 14 year olds & his mom gets a new job at Sanctuary & Grim - Death himself - starts training Nick & Ambrose (his future self) keeps visiting & gave him his grimoire - Grim's planning something with this woman/creature named Laguerre & the Coach gets Nick to join the team & wants him to steal stuff & threatens to kill him otherwise - with Caleb & Kody's help - he finds out that every other team Coach Devus coached in the past died - the day after winning the entire team ended up dead & they figure out how he did it - he killed a 14 year old girl & took her heart, keeping it in a box & taking something personal from all the team members so he could sacrifice them to his master - that's why he wanted Nick to steal the items - they stop Coach Devus in time by raising the 14 year old girl, Julianne & Nick switched their life forces so she's alive again & Caleb takes her back to her proper time period - NICK & KODY R DATING BUT SHE"S SUPPOSED TO KILL HIM!!! at the end, there's some creatures (talking to Ambrose i think) about Gautier being turned & them becoming free & the blood of man running down the streets.
Gotta read Illusion, book 5 of the series!

By the end of the second volume, this series looks like it can be continued. The first volume did take it's time to describing Nick's struggle into understanding if he wanted to take the path as a Dark Hunter. By the second volume, Nick's trust towards those close to him tested his skills to what more he was getting himself into. If there was a third volume, or more, I think there could've been more explaining towards Nick's future adventures and those in the darkness that Nick is unaware of

can't wait for this one. i loved the first. the only thing that weirded me out was ash. he just looked... messed up to me. idk, it just didn't have the 'ash' look to it, you know?

when i finished tis one, i was like, 'why did they leave out the big nick/Ambrose confrontation at the end???
why??'

As a fan of the book series, it's easy for me to love Nick's story in manga form - especially since he loves them himself. I hope they continue this series in this form as they're great recaps to read before each new release!

I like the cover so I can bet that its a good read. Everyone says don't judge a book by its cover but the cover gives you a preview of what's inside. :D

Not quite as enjoyable when I had already read the book, as it made the events seeem familiar rather than fresh and surprising. I do continue to enjoy the drawing style, however.
