Konami Kanata (jp. こなみかなた), is a Japanese cartoonist best known for her cat characters Chi's Sweet Home. Her works revolves around the daily life of house cats.
She went to Futaba-Kōtō Academy in Suwa, Nagano Perfecture. Her first published manga as a profesional manga-ka was the short story Puchi Neko Jamu Jamu in Nakayoshi Manga Magazine in 1982. The magazine is a part of Kodansha Publishing, in which she published her works ever since her first debut.
chi gets lost in this one, he also eats some cheese, tries to catch a goldfish and watches tv. bit of a cliffhanger at the end as chi is sick! as blackie (his cat friend) says, always smell your food before eating it! hope chi is ok. i fwightened.
Chi’s Sweet Home is always such a wholesome and quick read from the perspective of a stray-turned-housecat! I remember reading it years ago when we found our own street-cat-turned-fur-baby. One of my all-time favs. Hoping I can complete the series this year finally.
Chi and Cocchi are two rambunctious peas in a pod. The crazy duo get into all sorts of trouble in Chi's Sweet Home, Volume 7. I love how the ever-pushy Chi brings out the softer side of the street-hardened Cocchi. These wild brats are a riot to watch. Thank goodness big brother Blackie is always looking out for Chi.

It's getting a little difficult to review these books as I just keep saying the same thing. Cute, funny, great insight into the feline mind and also a look into day-to-day Japanese family life. Everybody, no matter what age, will love Chi! For all cat lovers. Chi spends time outdoors with his new friend Cocchi, gets locked out of the house over night, discovers the fun of a new pet fish, watches TV and gets sick. The absolute best part of this book is when Chi throws up; the Yamada's absolutely freak out, Chi does it more than once and the parents' reaction is hilarious. The illustration during this part just emphasizes how good Kanata is at showing emotion in her work. Loved it!
Chi is as adorable as ever in Volume 7, and now she has a kitten accomplice adding to the adorableness. He is Cocchi, a stray kitten whom Chi takes to playing with and following around. In this installment, we also see Blackie and Chi gets a new housemate (a Goldfish). Chi also experiences her first time being sick. So while still adorable, not quite as adorable as previous installments - but still realistic and enjoyable in depicting Chi's feline life.
Summary: In this volume of Chi’s Sweet Home, Chi has officially become friends with another kitten named Chocci. Cocchi and Chi enjoy running all over the place and chasing each other. And Chi continues to explore her environment inside as well. Will all this curiosity, kill the cat? But could Chi’s love to explore without reservations get her into trouble?
Little Chi is at it again, getting up to mischief. This time, she tries to go after new "prey" in her daddy's new pet Goldfish, which was very funny. Poor Chi couldn't understand why she wasn't allowed to grab for the fish!
The best part of the volume was her spending time with the other kitten, Cocchi, who tried to warn her against eating a rotten piece of meat. Thanks to assistance from big bear-cat, Blackie, she is able to get home, but then she's sick all over the floor which prompts her human family to take her to the vet. It ends with her on the mend from the rotten meat.
This volume had more unique stories, which I appreciated. The repetitive nature of her going for walks and getting lost wasn't so interesting, so glad to see there were other details like the goldfish and her learning to make sure to smell food before eating it.

Chi continues to grow and be brave. This volume picks up where the last one left off of. So she's following Cocchi through the park. Its clear that Cocchi is a street cat and doesn't have home (so sad). But Chi follows Cocchi around anyway and despite Cocchi's tough exterior I think Cocchi likes Chi.
Chi spends her first night outside and she wasn't very happy! She wanted to be home with Yohey and mommy and daddy!
Chi also learned a hard lesson too. You must sniff your food before you eat it because it could be rotten! Chi got sick but Daddy ran her to the vet and now Chi is better.
I can't wait to read this next volume. This is such a sweet manga series for anyone who loves cats. Young and old.

honestly..........spectacular. i want to read every volume. the way the chi and the other kitties are drawn in their motions and reactions is just exactly how i animate the caricature of "cat" in my mind. pure joy. silly little adventures. i love chi.
