About the author

Queen Brown was born and raised in Pacoima, CA. She now resides in Laguna Beach, CA. with her teenage son and young daughter. She enjoys writing, singing, movies, reading and spending quality time with her family. She works with the mentally and physically handicapped and it has been her occupation for over 7 years. Queen started writing poetry and song lyrics as a hobby at a younger age but her talent pushed her to write novels after a friend suggested it. She wrote The Darker The Berry The Deeper The Roots parts 1 & 2 to provide the readers with a relate able type of read for men and women. Queen Brown's passion for storytelling shows in her writing. Her aim is to inspire people who have gone through or who are going through similar situations as the fictional character in her books to have faith and strong will so that they too can make it out of the darkness. Queen also wrote Adia love, lies and murder and a collaboration titled, Hell No...This Can't Be Love to show her diverse style of writing. All I can say is wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved this book:) It started out a little slow, but it wasn't long before I was hooked. The story chronicles a young lady named E (Ebony)and her life experiences. She has a turbulent relationship with her family where she is treated horribly. As she grows up she goes through a few relationships with guys that I fell in love with. These relationships shaped her into a woman and from that she grew. There was love, betrayal, domestic violence, manipulation,family problems, resentment and triumph....all wrapped in one 5 star banger. I loved how this story was told the author made sure she told every detail and didn't leave a thing out about Ebony's life...I cant wait for part 2! If you haven't read this book all I can say is "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR"....Please DO NOT sleep on this novel!

Wow, where do I begin? " The Darker The Berry, The Deeper The Roots" by Queen Brown explores various levels of sexual, physical,verbal, and emotional abuse. Join Ebony as she blossoms from a young girl into a woman and everything in between.
This book brought out a wide range of emotions in me. From laughing to crying to shock, it definitely kept me on my toes. It started off a little bit slow but quickly picked up. I was rooting for Ebony the entire time! Needless to say, this novel gets a 5 star from me! Can't wait to see what's nect from Author Queen Brown!

Still good the second time around

The Darker The Berry The Deeper The Roots by Author Queen Brown is about the struggles of a young girl name Ebony. You will meet Ebony's parents, her mother is a crack addict, her father is incarcerated and Ebony has a highy devoutly Christian grandmother. Ebony's story will take you on various levels of sexual, physical , verbal and mentaly abuse. This book will bring out a wide range of emotions in you. You will want to cheer, laugh and cry. As you read the story you will find yourself cheering Ebony on.

The story line will definitely keep you turning the pages. I felt the characters were very well created, as reading the story you will be able to picture the characters as they unfold in the story line.

I highly recommend this book to women of all ages. This book is a great encouragement book. This is a book that will give one who is down strength to success and overcome obstacles.

Book Clubs this book will be a great book club discussion.

I loved this book it had me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Ebony encountered so much in her young life, from child neglect to sexual abuse. Nobody had her back, that is until she met her knight in shinning armor. But that fairy tell ended pretty quick.... to find out more please check this book out, you wont regret it.... Hats off for Queen Brown, My new favorite author. I can't wait to read part 2.

The way by which I judge a first novel is if I find myself thinking about what happens after the book ends, it’s a keeper. After I finished The darker The berry The Deeper The Roots I wanted to read the next book in the series.Queen Brown debut novel, is a fun, exciting, fantastic read. The premise of this book isn’t based on drugs or street life , which makes it a breath of fresh air in today’s oversaturated urban literature market.This book uses traditional urban literature lingo with modern reality and Queen Brown own twist of unique style of storytelling to successfully create an original, fascinating, and thrilling plot line. I love this story from beginning to end. I cried and I was very entertained at the same time with the characters development . I loved the pace of the story, everything was on point and perfectly executed. I can't believe this was her first novel. Awesome job Queen Brown. I am now reading part two,right alongside crashing. You are are definitely an author to watch. Bravo Queen job well done!!!

Wasn't one of my favorites...

This book was okay. It was kind of annoying reading how bad Jonah beat Ebony and she would to take him back. Then I'd have to read about some more brutal beatings and abuse from a male on a PREGNANT female. Too vivid and a bit disgusting! It didn't make me feel sorry for her or feel her pain, I just wasn't really interested in reading about that. I felt more for her growing up, or the constant rejection from her family. Her mother needing help herself, but still tried to show some effort. But I felt like once the beatings and abuse started from Jonah, that was supposed to be the highlight of the book. I think once the brothers, who were her neighbors, offered to basically execute Jonah, that should've been it and moved on to a truly happy ending for Ebony. A little would've been okay, but it was too much for me.

Get in to it....

This book was so good. (slow in the beginning) Ebony went through so much trying to be loved. Her family really wasn’t shit her dad I didn’t understand him and her mom she tried but the drugs were her main focus. Now because her mom choose something else to put before her and like I said her father I didn’t know his deal, she’s in the hands of a psychopath (Jonah) Smh!!! Ebony couldnt catch a break for nothing. I hope she gets away from Jonah before it’s too late. The Belize brothers omg, the we’re her savior but then life happens. Good book, can’t wait to see what happens next...

What you do for love

Hold on to yo yo pearls...well I did. All I can say is this author is amazing. The author was very transparent with all of the characters. Very well developed and the storyline flowed and blended each character. That is where my five stars come in.
I can honestly say I saw a little bit of me in Ebony and a lot of my baby daddy in Jonah. I can say I felt a lot of Ebony emotions. The abandonment, why she kept staying in such an abusive relationship, feeling obligated because of having a child with him. I hated to read all that Ebony had to go through with her family, her friends, and her childs father. That Jonah was a monster. But karma is real.
Definitely a cliffhanger so I'm anxious for part 2. We just have to know how everything works out because Ebony and Jonah were so young. Kiddos to Queen Brown

The STORY was DARK for certain ....

There were times that I would get so frustrated and disappointed with E that I couldn't see straight! Then there were times that her life story broke my heart. Her strength and determination was not to be reckoned with and kept her alive in the end. I was astonished that a child, in all actuality could endure such physical, emotional and psychological pain until she was near death. Unfortunately, in this case it was particularly sad that it had to come to that for her after going through so much hell already; and never felt loved or wanted up until this time. More sadly than that is this story line actually exists outside in the real world well beyond the pages in this book.

The book, The Darker The Berry, The Deeper The Roots, by Queen Brown, focuses on main character Ebony who is a victim of parental neglect and domestic violence. The storyline gives a real life account of The Cycle of Domestic Violence. The beginning is interesting; however, drags for quite awhile. There are some grammar errors that interrupt the reading flow. The story flourishes in the second half of the book and earlier parts could have been shortened. Overall, I rate the book OK!

Lord I was on a roller coaster I've never felt so many emotions while reading a book before but in a way I cah relate to Ebony not the physical abuse but the mental abuse. I'm so glad she finally wised up and let him go just like I did. This was such an amazing read can't wait to finish her journey with part 2.

this was a good ass book. a lot of twist and turns. Ebony has been through a lot in her life. I can't say she didn't being some of it on herself. Jonah is definitely a character. after finding out he was 16 I would have left if I was her. I guess young and dumb is the excise though
