For nineteen years I was a Waldorf classroom teacher in grades 1 - 8. I had the pleasure of telling my students a story every day. I was able to share all of my favorite fairy tales, saint stories, fables, myths, and historical biographies depending on the grade. One autumn, I wanted to tell my children a new story, one that had never been told before. The story went on for weeks. The children loved the story so much, they badgered me until I wrote it down for them. Once it was written, I realized it was a well-told tale and a gift for any young reader to enjoy. It was the first book in the Star Trilogy, The Dragon Boy. To learn more about my books, visit my website, www.donaldsamsonbooks.com
I really liked the first two books in this series- I liked how the characters worked hard and succeeded. This book doesn't get the 5 star rating simply because the characters are now adults and can't seem to get along. This story is about a son who doesn't want to follow in his father's footsteps ( sound familiar to true life?) Because of the discontent, the dragon is ill and so this story goes through how the son-Corin grows up and follows his own path with the guidance of Aga. I still liked the story, and I think kids 10 and up will love this 3 book trilogy if they like dragon stories filled with action and adventure.
The Dragon the blade and the thread was a great book written by Donald Samson. It was very faritallish but it had a good plot and a good lesson in the book. I would give this book five stars because it always had something thrilling and was never dull. I Would suggest this book for teenagers because its a tough read and the grammar can be hard to understand. But it would be less interesting I think if you were older.
So much bickering! I can't stand reading my kids books that contain tons of arguing. I just don't like it. That seemed to be all this book was. I'm sure it would have gotten better SOMEtime, but we got halfway through before moving on to CS Lewis! Really liked the first two books in the series, especially the first one.
