Coronation Commentary

Rate this book
BY the Grace of God, of Great Britain, Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the seas, King; Emperor of India; Defender of the Faith.

What is the meaning of this title which gives to one man the rulership of one-quarter of the inhabitants of the globe? Why is George Windsor the recipient of it? Who gives it to him? Where does it come from?

These are the questions that led to the writing of this exciting book. The whole meaning of the kingship is its subject. Its principal character is Edward, now Duke of Windsor, because it was written for his coronation. But following the December events, the author has added two full chapters on the Abdication and on George VI.

CORONATION COMMENTARY starts with a Vivid glance back over the last hundred years. There follow chapters on Republic vs. Monarchy, What the King Is, What the King Does, All the Other Edwards, and Edward VIII. Then two added sections, Abdication and Coronation, tell the whole dramatic story of Edward, present a sketch of George's character and describe in de-tail the procedure that will take place during the Coronation and the meaning of each move of a ceremony which has been built up through the ages to the most magnificent and significant pageant of our civilization.
