Another exciting Tracie Tanner thriller, where the plot keeps rolling into another dimension of impossible, keeping the strong heroine, Tracie Tanner CIA secret operative, working through dilemmas, which she must overcome to survive. She is quick to assess her surroundings and the situations she finds herself in by her resourcefulness. The other characters in the story also have deep roots and feel real, giving the book great dimension. As always dealing with her boss, CIA Aaron Stallings is problematic. Worse, her new assignment in Wuppertal, West Germany has pitfalls from the start. She is thrown into a situation where Intel is sketchy, there’s no time for even minimal planning, and reconnaissance is nonexistent. Tanner relies on her instincts to get the job done, but with her skills, that’s enough. Her new partner, Matthias Gruber, is an unknown in the deal, but they decide to work together, both dedicated to get the job done**spoiler alert** —Eliminate Hitler. Even more surprises arise, and the mission keeps morphing into something new to overcome, right until the very end. It is evident that the author researched which adds to the validity. The outrageous claims seem imaginable, once the story unfolds. The tension is well paced throughout and hooks along the way, keeping the reader riveted to the pages. There are many punches enacted in these action scenes, but still with a reverence for saving innocent lives whenever possible, which I applaud. I recommend this story for those who enjoy action-packed thrillers.
Like always Allan Leverone wrote another heart stopping page turner. Super woman Tanner is after to locate Amber room treasure in Wuppertal, German. Also to find out the truth about Hitler. Year 1987, a week in November in Tanner's life.
The book had an interesting premise that could have been handled in a more interesting manner. The main character, a CIA black ops whose existence wasn’t even acknowledged in case she was captured by the enemy she and her temporary CIA junior partner were fighting against, in this case, a reincarnated Adolph Hitler, his secret son, Adolph Jr., and a Nazi resurrection called Phoenix. There was a lot of violence, bloodshed, and death. Not my cup of tea and I would not recommend this book because I just felt it was never going to end until it finally did.
Tracie is dedicated to her job but a little hot headed though. I have enjoyed the previous books very much. I love these kind of novels where protogonist is a woman and knows how to take her of herself against all odds. Hitler Deception feels like it was written in hurry may be even written partly by Allan's family. Adolf Hitler still living seems a little stretch and the part in tunnel sounds more like Indian Jones. Hoping his next in the series brings the train back on track.
Tracie Tanner is a badass, bullheaded, balls to the wall heroine who has to outwit, outpower, or at least outlast treacherous adversaries in covert operations. Being set in the 1980's gives the TT series a vintage Cold War espionage flavor. I wouldn't call the plot 100% realistic, but it's 110% entertaining. The tunnel scene was especially good. I received this book as a gift (with no obligation to review it).
One amazing yet believable heroine My kindle app was a great way to read this page turner. The plot twists were matched with strong characters fully formed and flawed realistically. The crux of the story held my interest throughout the subplots and crazy adventures. Enjoy!
I was surprised with how much this book wouldn’t let me stop reading it. It never stopped moving...it just kept on plugging along while continuing to surprise me. Tracie Tanner is one tough agent...I know I would never think of stepping into the situations she walks into. I have heartily enjoyed the first 4 books of her series.
Lots of action and plenty of suspense, but the novel seemed unrealistic in that no one (even Tracy Tanner) could survive. The Hitler angle also seemed contrived. Hope the next novel in the series is better.
Good book! I love the female CIA agent and how she has a passion to work for her country. I love that she has a heart and cares for people, but is very resilient in completing her missions. Can’t wait to start the next book in the series.
Another heart pounding riveting ride with the black ops agnts. Great writing lots of action, you don't want to finish the book but then you can't put it down. Thanks to the author.
What a great series. CIA agent Tracie Tanner takes on a world unprepared for a woman like her - fearless, beautiful and deadly. Set in the early 1980s with a well-designed scenarios, these books are page turners guaranteed to keep you up long past your bedtime. Love them.
This series takes place in the 1980s when the cold war was still going strong. Tracie Tanner is an undercover operative for the CIA whose main skill seems to be drawing the ire of her boss. Her assignment is to go over to Germany and assassinate Adolph Hitler. Wait, what? Didn't he commit suicide in 1945? Hence the title of the book, one would imagine. He's back and he brought his son, Adolph Jr. with him. Spitting image as they say. They are planning a big Nazi comeback and have the funds to do it. Seems in the waning days of the war, Hitler had a tunnel built to store a treasure worth $300 million. Tracie is only given one piece of the puzzle at a time to solve as she completes this assignment.
Hidden treasure, current day Nazis and plenty of action: an interesting mix around which to base a book. An entertaining read although at times I found it veered a little too much towards the unbelievable. Overall, a well told thriller.
Another action-packed thriller from Allan Leverone that had me on the edge of my seat. Tracie Tanner is back and her task this time may be the most difficult one yet. The last third of this book had me reading as fast as I could to see what happened. The historical implications of her assignment were fascinating and I still love the 80s backdrop of this series.
