A very, very beautiful medieval girl who had to re-invent herself as a mindless, ugly freak-show to avoid being defiled by her depraved uncle/stepfather for 10 long years.
She was kind of betrothed to the heir of a neighboring lord. That guy dies and the H, his cousin is the new inheritor but he faces resistance from the family and his knights etc. To consolidate his position, he's told to marry the h. But, he has no wish to marry ever and certainly not the ugly-betty h. His flirtations with a resident ow having nothing to do with it. Hmmm.
Btw, Gwendolyn becomes Lady Wren as the ow compares her to a plain wren and the name sticks. Weird, first time seen an ow name a h.
As usually happens, the h proves herself useful by helping the villagers survive a 'plague'.
To give him credit, he treats her with respect but still his niceness and later falling for the plain-and-more h is little too much to swallow. His not marrying the h so as to protect her from a loveless marriage (like his mother's) is so much hogwash. Really, who'd care about that in those times? Why not be more realistic and show his non-attraction as the reason for not wising to marry the h?
Then, the 'angel' - the h minus the bulky clothes and hair dye whom he sees twice in the forest and seduces the second time. And how believable is that he now wishes to marry the plain Lady Wren as he's suddenly in love with her and that this 'very-honorable' guy is ready to just forget his angel whom he's 'de-flowered'?
Didn't buy, didn't like.

Angel of the Knight was an entertaining read. It was a little too cheesy at times to be 4 stars for me, but I give it 3.5 stars.

This was an inspiring romance novel. It is about a woman that has to disguise her beauty and intelligence to keep from being raped and abused (even worse) by her guardian (Uncle Titus). This novel is a historical romance, set around the renaissance, that is inspiring for any woman who has ever wanted a man to fall in love with who she was, not what she looked like.
This is one of the VERY FEW romance novels that has a stubborn, intelligent heroinne who doesn't just crumble and forgive easily.

Mistura da mitologia de Eros e Psiquê com o conto A Bela e a Fera.
Foi interessante até o momento que o heroi resolveu deflorar a Bela e se casar com Psiquê - ambas versões de Lady Gwendolin, a heroína.

«Un bacio portafortuna?» Prendendole la mano tra le sue, lui la attirò più vicina. «No, moglie mia. Non cerco più la fortuna, perché non si può mai sapere se sarà buona o cattiva. Voglio un bacio d’amore. Perché l’amore è sempre vero.»
Era un bel po' che non leggevo un medioevale e sono stata fortunata a "rientrare" nel genere con un libro così bello! *ç* Non mancano tutti i classici elementi medioevali, il matrimonio combinato, le lotte per l'eredità, l'epidemie, i castelli, i cavalieri ma ciò che senza dubbio spicca è la protagonista Gwendolyn, alias Lady Scricciolo! XD Dopo un'infanzia terribile, in cui lo zio ha ucciso per avidità e lussuria entrambi i suoi genitori, per proteggersi ha trascorso anni e anni a mascherarsi per sembrare orribile e a fingersi ritardata e storpia. Il matrimonio combinato con Falke potrebbe essere la sua salvezza, oppure l'ennesima sfortuna, se si rivelasse come l'odiato zio. La ragazza decide così di continuare la mascherata e all'inizio Falke sembra essere un nobile vanesio come tanti altri ma ben presto scopre in lui una profondità inaspettata e lentamente in lei nasce l'amore. Peccato che Falke sembra essere innamorato del suo vero aspetto mentre lei vuole essere amata per la sua bellezza interiore.... Lady Scricciolo è una ragazza forte, che ha subito tanti colpi ma non si è mai arresa, anzi ha conservato una nobiltà d'animo e una capacità di empatia che porteranno il bel cavaliere ad amarla per quello che è, a guardare oltre il suo aspetto miserabile per scoprire la vera bellezza e con lui tutti gli abitanti del villaggio e gli altri cavalieri. Falke è un uomo amareggiato e disilluso, che in vita sua ha amato solo la madre, ingiustamente ripudiata dal padre, e crede che le responsabilità e l'onore siano solo una gabbia. Ma quando arriverà il momento di rimboccarsi le mani e combattere per la sua gente, le sue terre, e la bellissima donna che gli ha conquistato il cuore tirerà fuori la sua vera indole, rivelandosi un uomo gentile, premuroso e leale e sopratutto molto più onorevole di quanto pensi lui stesso! ;D La storia è romantica, delicata e con la giusta dose di avventura (e disgrazie! D:) e mi ha catturata, consigliato! <3

I had it on my "to read" books for a long time.
This is a "feel good" story that made me smile throughout the book.
True, the plot is very predictable, and the romance is not detailed overly much in the story. But I could overlook that due to the nice story, which felt like a fairy tail.

Really good book!

Awful. I can't believe people like this sh*t. I mean, it's awful. I couldn't stand the characters, and I had to force myself to finish this book. Horrible. So, nope, not even one star.

Loved this story. The mystery and allure was wonderful.
