Baby Down Under

Rate this book
Riley Templeton was a hot-shot Queensland lawyer with a reputation for ruthlessness and a weakness for curvaceous, exciting blondes.

Alexandra Page was neither blonde nor curvaceous. And nothing exciting ever happened to her. But then she found a baby on her doorstep, abandoned with a note that led her to Riley Templeton.

Riley denied he was the father. But playing happy family with two frustrated females - one perpetually damp! - was bringing out the best in the sexy bachelor. He was beginning to suspect that perhaps blondes weren't necessarily more fun than babies!

Ann Charlton was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and now lives in Brisbane. She traces the beginning of her writing to a childhood period when, in trying to avoid nightmares, she began telling herself a story, continued each night. She wanted to be a commercial artist but became a secretary. She wanted to play the piano but plays guitar instead, and she never planned to be a writer. Her professional writing began with a short-story contest. She published her first romance novel in 1984.

Now Ann writes every weekday, interspersed with looking after her family Tennis, sketching, reading, modern music and dancing are other interests. When both daughters have finished high school, Ann looks forward to travel and seeing new places. She would like to do more tapestry work and paint miniatures and has absolutely no plans to research a book in the Amazon or to learn to play the bouzouki. From time to time she abseils, which surprises her because she is afraid of heights.

I came across this book, because my mom was in the hospital and while trying to make her stay in there more "lighter", I was reading to her.
I took this book from a pile kept especially for my mom when she come and stays with me in my apartment.
We truly enjoyed it and laughed in some moments. It was a very light and bright read with nice and funny characters and unexpectedly interesting story-situation.

probably my favourite category romance. riley is a bit of a smug bastard, but a good man nonetheless. alexandra wears doc martens and glasses, and owns a second hand bookshop. be still my heart! poor ann charlton nearly had an apoplexy when she was told about the abominable title, though. and the cover! blech. one must not judge a book by its cover, though.

This AC got a big fat yes from me. Loved the dialogue and chemistry between barrister Riley and boho bookseller Alexandra. So the plot around the baby being left on her doorstep with a note to bring them into each other's orbit was a bit daft. But it was a fun ride with some witty, sexy one liners. Really enjoyed it.

Its a Harlequin - nice story, moderately interesting cast of characters...not terribly believable but a good 'fluff' read.

Though some aspects of Riley were mightly entertaining.
