Chivalry Demanded He Cherish And Protect Any Woman In Need
Yet Marcus de Grant had never felt this more strongly than when he laid eyes upon Keelin O'Shea. Though driven by a sense of honor to rival his own, this Irish princess was sore in need of his warrior's blade—and his chivalrous heart!
Guardian of her clan's sacred talisman, Keelin O'Shea had ever put duty before desire. Yet one sight of Marcus de Grant emerging from the river, golden and glorious as some ancient god, sent a sweet ache of yearning through her for things that could never be!
As a nice, sane break from the drama and fast pace of working as a registered nurse in an intensive care unit, Margo Maguire returned to college to study history, and fell in love. Writing about the historical characters she encountered in her classes was a good way to unwind from a crazy day in the unit. She soon started creating her own fictional characters and putting them into historical settings.
Margo is the author of twenty historical romance novels. Her books have been published in numerous languages, and have even come out in Japan as manga—animated books. She is the mother of three grown children and lives with her scientist husband in southern Michigan.
For a romance novel it was worth the read. It has a decent plot and IMO it's well written. It's staged in the early 1400's with two of the main characters being from Ireland. Keelin O'Shea has the gift of sight and protects the sacred talisman that guides her Clan in Ireland. She meets and is protected by Marcus de Grant, the new Lord of Wrexton, as his father was murdered by the men that had been after Keelin and her spear.
I haven't read a romance novel in some time, and I was looking for a break from my usual non-fiction reading. Searching my library shelves, I found this little gem. For one thing, unlike the romance novels I remember, it took almost the entire book before a love making scene occurs. Prior to that, there is a LOT of sexual tension between the main characters - it enhance the book and made it harder to put down. Definitely a recommendation to anyone looking for a nice little break from reality.
I skimmed, skimmed, and skimmed again, all in the hopes that this story would get the least bit interesting.... it never did, and don't get me started on that ending!
There was nothing to this story! It had a great plot line, but the author managed to completely destrot it by adding WAY to much sexual tension, rushing the ending, and making the heroics completely unbelievable. If it was up to me, I'd say this could use a total rewrite.
I really liked this H/h, but MM had enforcement elements btwn Keelin's back story, the lurking foreshadows at Wrexton keep, Maarcus's overt shyness that kept this from being a really great read for me. Too much repetitive inner dialogue and too many plot lines slowed down the passion to just ehh. Still, MM pulled the storyline tog in the last chapter.
I have one more book by her, the results of ordering a box of books off ebay because there is one author in the listing one likes. If the next one lives up to my expectations, she will go on my do not read author list.
