NOBLES WERE NOT TO BE TRUSTED ...

Rowena had learned this in childhood when her knightly father had abandoned her. And now Sir Christian Greatham, afire with vows of vengeance, insisted she was heir to a powerful legacy. But she wanted nothing of titles and lands. What her heart desired --- yet was forever denied --- was Christian!

Christian Greatham was determined to restore the daughter of The Dragon to her rightful position. Why else had he risked all to bring Rowena out of the wilds of Scotland? It couldn't be love --- for the headstrong beauty was suspicious of all things noble --- especially him!

Catherine J. Archibald was born on 17 August, and grew up in Oregon, USA. She has always loved books and reading. Even as little girl, she enjoyed making up further adventures about the characters in the books she read as well as writing stories about her own characters. But it wasn’t until she read Jane Eyre at around the age of 12 that she realized she wanted to write... romance novels. Completing a novel, however, turned out to be much more difficult than making up stories in her head!

In the years between deciding to become an author, marrying her Canadian husband, Steve, having three children, enrolling in nursing school twice, she began but never finished many novels. It wasn’t until her youngest child was two that she sat down and told herself that she would complete her book or go to her grave trying. That novel, written on an old typewriter that a friend gave her after finding out that she was working on a book, took two years to finish. Her husband, Steve, seeing how determined she was to become a published author, sold his 1965 Mustang to buy her first computer. He remained a constant and devoted supporter through the seven years of rejections. It was her third completed historical romance, Rose Among Thorns, that Catherine sold to Harlequin Historicals in 1992. It was the culmination of her all her dreams and hard work. She still approaches each book with the same excitement of that first one. Bringing the characters and their story to life are some of her greatest challenges and joys. Each time she helps the hero and heroine discover that being able to truly love and trust in another person only makes you stronger, she renews her own belief in the power of love. With the 2003 release of her thirteenth and last book for Harlequin, Dragon's Daughter, Catherine has lost none of her sense of awe at seeing the names of her characters in print.

After a rich and unforgettable stay of 15 years in Alberta, Catherine now lives with her husband of more than 25 years and her three children in Troutdale, Oregon, near her family again. She loves meeting and hearing from readers and may be reached at the following address: Catherine Archer, P.O. Box 1216, Fairview, OR 97024-1216.

Disappointing conclusion to the trilogy. The first two chapters are basically just one woman being super horny for a coma patient. It’s understandable why the female lead wouldn’t 100% believe the male lead’s theory that she’s the missing Dragon’s daughter, but we don’t end up getting enough actual info on why she’s so sure her mother wasn’t lying (she just says her mother wouldn’t lie to her and that’s it), and her reasoning for wanting to return to the village even if it turns out she’s really the daughter was understandable but still a bit flimsy (she just didn’t think she could rule over a parcel of land by herself?)

Christian and Rowena apparently fall in love at first sight even though it was clearly LUST at first sight. They just fight but not in the sort of fun, flirty, understandable way that the leads from the previous books in the trilogy did.

No spoilers, but the ending was too easily achieved. It’s a romance novel, sure, but after two books and 275 pages of this book it felt to me like the ending shouldn’t have been so simple and easy.

Ultimately it just felt like 90% of this book was Rowena going “I’m not the daughter and I have no reason to stay here if you’re so devoted to your own father even though it’s literally the 12th century” and it got annoying and unlikable pretty quickly. The first two books I really enjoyed, I don’t know why this conclusion had to be such a drag. I wonder if Ms. Archer just didn’t feel up to writing this book but had a deadline.

Much *much* better than the other two books in the series. The characters were engaging and the affection they felt for each other seemed very real. The conflict was not forced and seeing the resolution of the previous took books helped to tie the whole series up very nicely.
