Kelly Eileen Hake is a reader favorite of Barbour's Heartsong Presents series, where she has released several books. A credentialed Secondary English teacher in California, she is pursing her MA in Writing Popular Fiction. Known for her own style of witty, heartwarming historical romance, Kelly is currently writing the Prairie Promises trilogy, her first full-length novels. She has been writing since she could hold a pen and was first published at the tender age of eighteen.
Delilah Chadwick, Miriam from book 1's cousin, comes to the Chance ranch after her gambler father's death. She immediately takes a liking to the tall, serious brother, Paul Chance, and he to her, but she's not a believer, and he is. How on earth shall they solve this dilemma?
Much like with the first two, the supporting cast really makes this book shine. The other Chances are super fun, Polly and Ginny Mae are adorable toddlers, and the MacPhersons are hilariously country foils to the Chance family slice-of-life goings on.
This one was significantly more churchy than the first two, which detracted from the romance a bit, in my opinion. But these books scratch that Little House on the Prairie itch that I have without the underlying ick of that franchise.
Didn't enjoy this as much as the first two. Was great to see the other interesting characters continuing on but the Paul and Delilah were just not quite as likeable. I also find it strange how they all pray in KJV language. Seems unrealistic to me.
I continued to love getting to know the Chance family in this California Chance series written by different authors. I especially loved how this story was centered around finding faith and trust in Christ.
The third installment in the Brides of Chance collection. Paul Chance and Delilah fall hard for each other but she's come from a rough life and trusting people doesn't come easy for her. I also like the continuing stories of Gideon and Miriam and thier expanding family as well as Titus and Alisa's continuing story. Wonderful little read!! :)
"Taking a Chance" by Kelly Eileen Hake The third story is about Paul. Miriam's cousin Delilah finds herself alone when her gambling father dies and she has nowhere to go. She decides to go see Miriam (who she has kept in touch with). Paul is the kind of strong man that Deliah needs but can she ever trust another man when her father has let her down all her life?
