I really really enjoyed this! I was in the search for something of Halloween Romance and this came to me as the recommendation of a group, I wasn’t sure how much I was going to like it considering it’s a harlequin historical but I ended up really loving it.
It was quite fun and different from anything I’ve read before so I was glued to the pages since the first, though I must admit I find it to be quite heavy in some parts and Belle does came off as annoying a lot but inspite of all of that I really enjoyed the story and I’m glad I read it.
Andate a leggerlo e fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate!

I really enjoyed this story and it was on the "clean" side.
Read for the 2nd time 1/7/11 as part of the series.
Belle is the base born daughter of Brandon Cavendish (Midsummer's Knight). She has become a widow and her brother in law has locked her up until she signs over everything to him. He has seen her ruby and pearl brooch that was given to her by her Grandmother Alicia, the daughter out of marriage by a king. The brooch had belonged to her father the king but his is unknown to all. Belle is able to let a young lad know she is held prisoner and to get word to her father.
Mark Hayward has returned from 7 years in Ireland. He is still landless and without fortune. Brandon Cavendish offers Mark, his former squire, 1000 acres of his land if he will rescue Belle.
Belle had been a hellion and tormented Mark as he watched over her as a youngster. If not for the land there would be no way he would help her. Until he sees her locked in a room and starving.
Belle does not want to let go of her pride so her and Mark are often at each others throats.
In the ending of the story we find that Elizabeth Hayward from Fool's Paradise is connected to this story.

England 1542 I loved this book! The story was awesome and so were the characters! Even though Belle was a bit of a b***h i ended up liking her anyhow. I can't wait to hunt more from this series down to read them.

Meh. I was looking for Halloween reads and this came up. The characters are flat; the heroine keeps having the same revelation over and over and then returning to the same behaviors. The plot is all over the place with bits and pieces of "creepy" ideas thrown in to see if they will stick. Not an author I will add to my to read list
Bratty girl has grown up and is widowed. In-laws lock her in castle while they live high on the hog and search for her jewelry. Poor knight who she tortured as squire is sent to rescue her. Hijincks ensue as she refuses to leave her home, they decide to haunt said castle to drive in-laws out and fall in love. Some funny lines, but not a keeper.
