Update: since I originally wrote this, she (and/or her publisher) have noted (at least on Amazon) where the books are being re-named and re-released. This is actually a common practice; however, most authors will add a note in the book summary noting where it was released under a different title. Crosby is still a great author and I have enjoyed her books. I was just disappointed at the time to have discovered this done several times. I read hundreds of books a year for my own pleasure. Money purchasing duplicates could have gone to another book or author.

Caveat emptor!!! I own all of Crosby's books...many in duplicate or triplicate, simply because Crosby renames books and does not let customers know it's re-published. She's done this several times to the same book. I started buying her books shortly after acquiring my Kindle in 2012. She is a good author with less than ethical practices. This book was originally published under a different title. It is not uncommon for authors to re-publish a book; however, they should let readers who may already own the book know this. The version I purchased in 2016 was The Imposter's Kiss. Nothing gets my goat like an author who consistently renames a book, slaps on a new cover and then trots it out like it's never been published before. It is deceptive! I nearly purchased Seduced by a Prince on Amazon AGAIN - simply because it had been so long, that I didn't recognize the main characters. A simple title search and links within Amazon did not show I owed it. Thank goodness for Goodreads! After not finding the original Amazon receipt under Seduced by a Prince, I found it under The Imposter's Kiss when researching the Goodreads site - same book, just marketed to fool unsuspecting customers. Ethical authors will note their book was previously published under another title. You lose my business when you chose deceptive business practices. This is SO not cool!

I thought the premise of the book was interesting. Unfortunately, the delivery was disappointing. There's a mix of The Prince and the Pauper, Robin Hood, and Parent Trap. There was no real closure, so I feel like I'll need to read the second book for it all to come together.

I am not a writer and never could be. Even reading more than 300 books a year, I could not do what these authors do. With that being said, I don’t write great reviews. If I like or love a book; I just say “Love this book. Get it” or something along those lines.  I am trying to be better about my reviews because I noticed some authors do actually see them.

So after reading hundreds of authors, there is only a handful that I truthfully can say are my favorites and I have actually read all their books and keep track of their new releases. I have also started reading some new authors.

Tanya Anne Crosby is one of those new authors for me. I always research my authors before I get their books and she had a few that seemed interesting and something I'd like. I have to say I really liked this book. I loved the story of Ian and Merrick and Fiona’s heartbreaking decision and I can't wait to read what is going to happen next. Definitely can’t wait to read “A Crown for a Lady” next.

I dislike books set in fictitious countries, though this one was set in one for a very brief time, with the majority of the book being set in northern Scotland. The hero (heroes, actually, as there are 2 books in this duo) are bastard twins separated at birth by a wicked father: he gets to keep one twin, the mother keeps the other and is sent to Scotland. I should have stopped there and put the book in the donation bag.

I've always enjoyed Crosby's books but this one just didn't do it for me. I'm about to start Book 2 in a few minutes, I hope it's more entertaining that this first book was. It was a mish-mash of too much going on - bandits running wild in the Scottish hills, a mother wheelchair-bound, the sweet heroine caught between the proverbial rock and hard place. Jeez - and to top it off, the ending was brutally fast. Like the author ran out of space for the word-count and had to jam everything in just a couple of chapters.

I feel that I'll have to finish Book 2 just to find out how things turn out -I keep my fingers crossed that it will be better than this one.

Nicely detailed plot with great intrigue. What is a the big secret? What happened after the twins were separated after birth?

Highly recommend this historical romance.

Seduced by a Prince
The Impostors Series
book 1
by Tanya Anne Crosby

This was a fantastic read! I truly enjoyed this.

Lady Fiona Elizabeth MacEwen has fallen in love, desperately believing that her life will be that of a fairytale. Not the cruel proposition that was forced upon her, for what mother would choose between children! The man she loved Julian Merrick Welbourne III was a monster!

On his journey for answers, to Glen Abbey Manor, Merrick Westbourne never anticipated to meet his exact image, get knocked on the head and meet an angel all in one night! His father has kept a secret from him, and he vows to find the truth.

Chloe Simon never held Lord Ian Lindale in high regard, but after being knocked on his handsome head, he’s been acting strangely. Especially after that kiss he so unexpectedly stole from her. Things are not as they seem at Glen Abbey, everyone is hiding a secret from Lady Fiona to Lord Lindale. And who exactly is Hawk? Secrets and deceptions are plentiful, will they destroy the blossoming feelings for Chloe? Or is the impostor the man she’s fallen for?

Tanya Anne Crosby has a gift for weaving entertaining stories that captivate the reader. This was such a gem of a story, I loved Chloe and Merrick she was just what he needed a spitfire that isn’t afraid to go toe to toe with him. And Merrick he’s not who he thought was, love made him the man he was meant to be. I also loved the secondary characters the enhanced the story. I can’t wait to read Ian’s story, and his reaction to the truth!
I highly recommend this, it’s wonderful read with plenty of mystery, intrigue and well deserved happy ending.
This is my honest unbiased opinion, all opinions are my own.

This novel is a nod to some old classics: Parent Trap, The Scarlet Pimpernel, and The Prince and the Pauper, with even a tip of the hat to Robin Hood. I am a sucker for twin stories, and at heart this was good yarn. However, it asked the reader far too often to ignore pesky improbabilities like one twin raised in Europe and one though well educated grown up in an isolated area of the Scottish Highlands whose closest companions are his tenants. Yet the way they speak is as identical as their looks? And the whole bogus injury of their mother and the reasoning for it? This story has the strong bones of the classic fairy tale, with the romance novel’s touch of deeper character development, but it is too carelessly rendered. While we are reading it a good fairy tale makes us forget it is pure fantasy. This one reminded me every few pages.

Many years ago Lady Fiona MacEwen thought she was going to marry her Prince. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out like that.
Now Merrick Welbourne is going to find out who his father has been writing to for years. He's absolutely stunned by what he finds. With his father's illness the only way he can find answers is by hiding in plain sight.
Miss Chloe Simon worked alongside her doctor father until his death. Then the day of his funeral she lost her home and took work as a nurse. While she's there, hopefully she can find the deeds to her home.
This is a story with lots of complications and secrets. The characters are fascinating with very good hearts. That is except the one who is stealing so much that it puts the lives of everyone in the village at risk.
This is the first in what is obviously a duet. I can't wait to read the next one.
I loved it.

Twins separated at birth, one brought up as a prince, with his father the king, whilst the other was a Lord, but with no control over the lands his title prevailed upon.
As grown men, one, the Prince seeks information about a woman that his father writes to, but never sends the letters to. The highwayman, known as Hawk, intercepts the carriage, and two brothers come face to face after 28 years....
Okay, you need to read this adventure as the author has written it. It is very dramatic and emotionally charged.
Looking forward to finding out more next episode of this series.

A very enjoyable read. Merrick Welbourne has just discovered he has a twin brother, just met his mother who he was told was dead, and is drawn to a woman for the first time. Needless to say, he's having an overwhelming time of it. Chloe Simon has never liked the Lord of the manor, so why is he so different now and why is she suddenly drawn to him? A mystery for both to solve and a relationship to come from it. Looking forward to next in the series.

Thirty years ago, the prince of a small European country promised to marry the daughter of a Scottish earl, and she bore him twins. Then he decided to marry another woman. When they separated, they each took one of their infant sons and told the boys falsehoods about the other parent to protect them from the truth.
Now, in 1831, Crown Prince Merrick Welbourne IV of Meridian knows something is amiss with his father. The king is miserable, and Merrick goes to the wilds of Scotland to find out why. While en route to Glen Abbey Manor, a group of highwaymen attack his carriage and hold Merrick at knifepoint, but the face of his captor is all too familiar. He’s knocked unconscious, but nothing is the same when he wakes up. The thieves believe Merrick is their leader, Hawk, and Merrick must pretend to be so for his own safety and to get the answers he needs.
Chloe Simon is Lady Fiona’s nurse, and she despises the lady’s pompous son, Ian, the Earl of Lindale. When Ian (Merrick) returns one night, injured and seemingly drunk, she lets him know just how much she despises him. Attraction sizzles between them for the first time, and she knows something isn’t right. Once she realizes the mysterious highwayman, Hawk, a man she idolizes, is also Ian, she finally accepts the love that’s been building in her heart. But Ian (Merrick) has another secret, one she’s desperate to uncover.
This is an amazing story. I love it. There are so many twists and turns. All the characters are lying to one another, but everyone knows that the others are lying, and everyone is just too stubborn to give in and talk about everything they know. Normally, this type of plot would annoy me, but I found it very intriguing. The author wrote in a compelling manner from multiple POVs, so the reader would never be confused and to know all the characters’ motives behind the lying. I enjoyed the banter, the half-truths, the coaxing, and teasing between Merrick and Chloe, as well as with Fiona.
Merrick and Ian’s mother was a wonderful, strong-willed woman who’s trapped in a cage of relentless mistakes. I felt so bad for her and completely despised Julian, her ex-lover the king and the twins’ father. But, at the same time, I feel bad for Julian. Yes, the bad situation was his fault, but he does love Fiona deep down.
Merrick and Chloe are wonderful together. They learn and grow, and realize what’s truly important in life and not to judge others before you get to know them. It’s a beautiful story and my favorite of the two books in this series.
In the sequel, The Imposter Prince, Ian takes on the mantle of “prince” and begins to live Merrick’s life. I’ll be sure to post a review for that story as well.
I definitely recommend this book!

This is an OK romance, but I thought the whole story line of the twin brothers who were separated was a bit far-fetched -- especially the part where their mother didn't even realize when they switched places. Most mothers can tell the difference in identical twins. I also thought that the couple fell in love much too quickly to believe, especially since the h couldn't stand the H at first.

Chloe was kind of a shrew through most of the book. I get that she had reason to think Merrick (who she thought was Ian) was a jerk, but that didn't excuse her behavior. She was just nasty to him most of the time, and he still fell in love with her? I found that hard to believe. I also found it difficult to believe she fell in love with him in only a week -- especially since most of that time she thought he was a different person, and one she did not like at all.

Merrick was OK, but I didn't believe that he fell in love with Chloe that quickly. He was definitely in lust, but the instalove was just too much.

There are numerous editing errors in the book, but the most glaring one was the changes in the twins appearance. In the beginning, the twins are described as having their father's dark hair and grey eyes -- but as adults, they have blond hair and blue eyes. That should have been corrected by an editor.

Finally, and this is a minor issue -- but it is a pet peeve of mine. The pictures on the book cover should match the description of the characters. Merrick was described as blond with blue eyes -- but the guy on the cover has dark hair. This may not be the author's fault, but it bugs me.

This one gets 3 stars from me.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

ALWAYS, A STORY WITH "ALL THE FEELS"!

From the first moment, I'm captivated. Love, joy, scorn, tremendous heartbreaking loss, all woven into a delightful HEA.
possessing a sharp memory and a great imagination, I truly don't need all the graphic instructions that some authors shove down one's throat, ahem, sorry, not sorry, with all the talk of Tab A and Slot B.
Tanya Anne Crosby uses romance like a good fairy's wand, just
enough here and there to make dreams happen and the frog turn into a prince. Or not.
I am enchanted with this author, and her editors. I admit that I'm a GrammarCop, I take notes of typos and plain old errors, which I usually send to the author, if possible. If it were my work, I'd want it perfect. I HATE falling over errors. One author pooh-pooed 58 errors as "Yeah, that happens, ignore it!" My OCD was a bloodied mess and it was a great read. I don't choose her books anymore.
I WILL ALWAYS CHOOSE TANYA ANNE CROSBY.
happy hugs, Bobi

Julian Merrick Welbourne IV is traveling to Scotland to find out the answers his demented father cannot and has not ever given him. He knows whatever is in Scotland is the answer to many of his childhood and adulthood questions.

Chloe Simon was the daughter of the local physician and all she wanted to do was follow in her father’s footsteps. However, she knows the Crown will never let a woman be a medical doctor. Therefore, she settles for taking care of the invalid Lady Fiona MacEwen and the other village occupants. Everything goes well until there is a grave mix-up and criminal activity is afoot.

The prologue of this novel sucked me in and had me all discombobulated. I was not expecting this historical romance novel to pack such a punch with the first few pages AND I had not gotten to the main story. One of my favorite things about historical romance novels is the absence of modern conveniences which lead to vast misunderstandings, confusion, and the revelation of multiple secrets. There were a lot of mistaken identities, miscommunication, and secrets in this novel that it was entertaining to see it all unravel. Merrick is an excellent actor and played his mistaken identities well. As a reader knowing more than the characters can be fascinating and frustrating at the same time. The novel was beautifully written, which made it engaging and a page-turner. I cannot wait to see what Ian is getting up to in Book 2. The novel does end on a HEA with a hint to Book 2 which focuses on Ian.

Good story and enjoyable but what about..,

The tale starts out telling us that Merrick was a motherless baby raised by an Asian man named Ryo. Ryo was his mother, teacher and best friend who was always there to make all things right in Merrick’s young life. Merrick even thinks about getting a message to Ryo to ask for help getting away and Merrick was sure to be reachable when needed. Then we do not hear about Ryo again and is completely dismissed from his life by books end. What happened to Ryo and why didn’t he come back to held his “charge”?

The apparent twin brothers tumble around in a fast moving carriage some how Ian changes clothes, shoes, letters and money and exchanging identities leaving Merrick injured, confused and not in his own clothes on the side of the road to be found by Hawk’s gang of thiefs. Why don’t we get to read about Ian’s adventures of becoming a Prince or how the twins decide how to exchange lives for ever. Perhaps Ian’s side of the story may be the basis for the next book in this series.

One less star **** for the totally unanswered questions and the rest of Ian’s adventures to be in line to be the next King ?

Otherwise I enjoyed the story but it didn’t feel complete nor was it hinted at for the next book.

Brain “junk food” romance

While some aspects of the plot require suspension of reality, it’s worth reading this book for the fun idea of it all. Identical twins separated at birth, one to royalty, the other to a life less spoiled, a mystery of squandered wealth, a Robin Hood element, and a hero who plays along until he figures things out with way more grace and forgiveness than most...it’s a fine adventure. Although our hero is not very self-disciplined when it comes to waiting to have sex with his love interest, and he seems to have blind faith in lots of other characters....Okay, right, this is brain junk food, not a scientific exploration of the human psyche. The writing is of sufficient high quality to allow the reader to become immersed in the tale.

The sex scenes are definitely for adult readers, and there are several references to bastard children and mistresses. The characters lie, steal, and try to outsmart each other in a caper-ish sort of way. This book focuses entirely on one twin’s adventures. Readers will have to purchase another book to find out what happens with Ian.

Pretty nice but not a re-read material

3.50-3.75

This is a series starter in a FM Historical Romance trilogy and it has a HEA. Royals, royal twins secret identity. Somewhere around 3.5 - 3.75

I liked the writing moderately, it was easy to enjoy. This was a pretty quick read though not too short. The POVs flowed too much into each other without anything to separate them. That's a very odd practise and it bothered a bit in how this was written. The book's not the best for a standalone really due to the nature of the story calling for a closure but that's what sequels are for of course. This couple had their HEA at the end, though.

The plot itself was romance, intrigue, and we even had an evil villain or two, however you choose to view it.

I could read more by them but I doubt it'd go anywhere into favourite names direction.

Identical twin brothers separated as infants have no knowledge of the other’s existence.
The king is gravely ill and his son, Prince Merrick, found several letters written by his father but never sent. He travels to investigate the person his father has been writing.
The storyline is a good one, and unfolds nicely. It’s obvious that the brothers have been living very different lives. I would have enjoyed reading more in-depth feelings, and I didn’t connect with them emotionally.
The Audible narrator was part of the issue for me. It was almost the same accent for most characters. With the exception of Merrick who was very deep and often loud, and the children, there wasn’t much to distinguish them. If I decide to continue the series at some point, I’ll probably read only rather than listen.

Identity Swap.
His carriage attacked, Merrick is knocked out by a stranger who bears a startling resemblance to him. When he comes to, his carriage has disappeared and he is wearing the stranger’s clothes. The motley band of ruffians who come upon his dumped body, don’t appear to realise he is not their leader and deliver him to the local manor house. It doesn’t take him long to realise that he is walking in his brother’s, nay his twin’s shoes and meeting his mother for the very first time. He has so many questions both about his past and the goings on at the manor, but is afraid he will not get answers if he reveals his identity. The deception is made more difficult due to his attraction to Chloe Simon, who despises the man she believes him to be.
An interesting story with a HEA ending but with threads that continue in following books.

The Prince and the Pauper All Grown Up

I am a sucker for a classic tale of romantic princes
and beautiful maidens. This tale even has a Robin Hood and his Merry Men,too. Tanya Anne Crosby has crafted a delightful love story with twin princes raised separated for their first 28 years. A highwayman starts an unveiling of years of secrets and lies and we readers are treated to an enthralling romance to cheer our hearts as we root for Fiona, the banished mother of twins who is allowed to raise one twin, but forced to give the other one up. Then the young prince and the Robin Hood's chance encounter starts the love story between Merrick and Chloe. We meet some lovely people and some vicious villains and a romantic tale is enjoyed by all, or at least by me. If you are a sap for mildly hot Cinderella stories you will like this one.

Should have been confusing, but wasn't!

Nicely plotted tale of love, lust and larceny, but in a good way. Skim over the sordid sexual details like I did and there's an interesting story. Actually the sex wasn't overwhelming - they managed to hold themselves together on all but two occasions I think - I'm just not a fan of insert tab a into slot b blow by blow descriptions that seem a prerequisite to success these days (god, I feel old just saying that). Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns and deceptions that made this an enjoyable read. Something different on the mistaken identity trope. Well crafted and nicely constructed, good use of our language and sharp editing all added to the enjoyment.

This is the first book I’ve read from this author (how is that possible?) and I’m sure it won’t be the last. This is a charming story that reminded me a bit of the Man in the Iron Mask, where twin brothers are separated as infants, not for the same reasons, but each not knowing that they have a brother. The opening scene will give you a good look into how Fiona had to choose, but not the why. In the next chapter, the boys are now men and it goes from there. This is the story of one of the twins, Merrick. Ian’s book is the second in the series.

There is a danger, romance, and some heartwarming moments and there is a few heated sex scenes. But this is story of love and forgiveness and truly finding out who your true self is. Nicely written and looking forward to more by this author.

Book one of The Prince & the Imposter series a well written story with a great storyline the story flowed smoothly across the pages. Once I read this book I had to read the next one. A story of two brothers separated a birth by their Father. Merrick Welbourne will be king someday when he goes to find out about some letters his Father has hidden, he is set upon. He ends up taking Ian MacEwen's place. He meets Chloe Simon a doctor’s daughter. The story has suspense, drama, danger, highway men, a switch, coming to know the common people, and romance. I enjoyed seeing this story come together. I received a copy of this book through K.U.and I am voluntarily reviewing

Well, I certainly enjoyed this story. Loved the steamy parts and the characters were fun and exciting. I wish I could read the 2nd book but 5 dollars is to pricey.
The story was a whirlwind that kept spinning until the end. Filled with excitement, had humor, raging passion, good fascinating plot.
It did come to somewhat of a conclusion but still left you hanging all at the same time.
The story deserves 5 stars but the non-conclusion made me want to drop my rating but I didn't as you can see.

Great story

Separated at birth Merrick and Ian has lived different lives. Merrick finds a letter from his real mother and decides to visit. Almost to the village he is robbed by his brother. Ian knocks Merrick out, changes clothes and leaves in his carriage. He is mistaken for Ian but sees that things do not look right. The house is run down, the village is poor and there are lies and treacherous things are happening.

Of you thought that lightening could struck (3) times in one family then you should think again!
The Prince who became king is an arse!
The twins he fathered free up not knowing each other!
The Prince/king still loved their mother!
Money is being stolen.
Children are going hungry.
The old abby was set afire just to kill one woman who still loved the Prince!
The Princes who grew up in separate homes traded places!
I love the book and must look up more books by this author!
