I was looking forward to this series but sadly it just didn't give me quite...enough?
The author hinted at the tragedy that led to the existence of the ghost class, but so far hasn't said what that was. That left me a bit frustrated as it feels a bit like that's a fact no one is ever going to get. We'll have to see.
The kids who discover the ghosts aren't always the nicest, and there's certainly plenty of bullies around. Overall, I just wasn't happy at the ghost / kid interactions and thought they could have been done better. I'll keep reading anyway though.
In this book I liked the part when Cassidy at the beginning felt chills throughout her body. I also liked the part were all the ghosts came out at once because they thought the classroom was theirs. I loved the part when Cassidy was sweeping the rug she was standing on started floating strangly. I also liked when the ghost boy appeared out the part when the part when the ghost boy appeared out of nowhere. Over all I think the book was very good an a am going to read the whole series.
I enjoyed this book, but not as much as I thought I would have.
I usually get so hyped for beginnings, you know, I thought I would find out exactly what happened to these children that turned them into ghosts, and maybe a little more history of the school since it's dated back to at least 1870.
There were hints that some tragic event happened in a newspaper clipping...but that's all that was told.
And for some reason, Ozzy was the only ghost to show his face until the very end. I've read some other books from this series and I thought I would have had at least some answers to the things that have happened because I really want to know about the history of everything.
WHAT'S A GHOST STORY WITHOUT ANY HISTORY?
WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE POOR KIDS?
Also, I think the kids that are still alive are awfully rude to the ghost kids. Well, in this case, Ozzy.
Didn't Olivia tell these kids that they need to be nice to everyone I know she was also hinting at the ghosties.
A very quick read for an adult reader. A nice chapter book for younger readers. The illustrations are nice.
The small school is overcrowded and the third grade class needs to move to a new classroom in the basement. It's spooky and gets spookier. Kind of.
My favorite character is Nina. She grasped Olivia's meaning and tried hard to get Cassidy to understand too. Cassidy is a bit hardheaded and I struggled with her character. Jeff was nice. Ozzy was interesting.
I liked the bright ending, but it wrapped up very quickly and left me with questions.
This is as good as I remember it from the first time I read it years ago. The characters are well-developed for a book this size, and the action is perfect for its audience (grade 2-3). I highly recommend it for kids.
Series. In this short chapter book, three friends decide to help one another when they are placed in a sticky situation with a ghost haunting their classroom.
my favorite part was when cassidy stopped the ghosts. the worst part was when the ghost were being mean to cassidy. the best character was cassidy because she was the main character. there was no worst character.
I would have liked this book more if I had read it first, but I've already read other Ghostville Elementary books and was familiar with the characters.
Fun little series about kids who have to have their classroom in the basement of the school. There, they find ghosts. Good little series for Halloween.
