I own all bar possibly two of Preston Baileys titles. This book is filled with the most amazing, beautiful floral designs and elegant place settings in glorious colour. However my big issue with this book, Preston gives nothing away; No instructions, no how to do and no floral design terminology just pictures and the thoughts from the male diva himself. Don't get me wrong I love his work but with the high price tag for a single book being taken out of my purse I feel I've been robbed. The NY Flower School published a book for half the price and included clear photographed step by step instructions how to create more than several professional designs by some of NY's top florists. Shame on Preston, I think it's a case of the diva afraid to lose his crown should someone actually learn some skills and know what to do and do it better! I certainly will not be investing in any of his future titles. It's interesting of all the wedding designers who have been the most open and transparent with their skills they have gone on to have successful worldwide TV shows. Preston where's yours again?

Here is my low-brow review of a book that documents high class weddings and events...

First of all, the title should be Perspirations as the reader will most likely experience an elevated heart rate and high blood pressure while calculating the amount of time, physical exertion, flowers, and money it would take to pull off these events.

Preston Bailey is considered "The" event planner for the elite. This book is a collection of various events that Bailey fashioned. Each chapter chronicles a particular occasion with a brief description outlining requests of the host(ess). Bailey describes how he transformed each location into the ultimate and perfect setting for the event. The remainder of the chapter is a compilation of breathtaking photographs, capturing the essence that Bailey and his team created.

Was I inspired? Ummm, no! Over-stimulated? Definitely! I firmly believe in the old adage, “Less is more.”

Over the top creations, but beautiful beyond words. I can't imagine how breath-taking actually being in the midst of one of his creations would be. Not realistic for home entertaining (obviously!) but with some creativity, the ideas can be adapted to home use.
