How Do Scientists Explore Space?
By: Achraf
The informative science book, How Do Scientists Explore Space? is a well-written piece of writing by the talented and gifted author, Robert Snedden. First, this science book mainly talks about the types of tools that are used by scientists to see space, clearly. It also tells us about the many famous scientists who helped us change our view of space. For instance, a scientist named Aristarchus figured out that the sun was much bigger than Earth. He also believed that the Earth moved around the sun. This would be accepted as a fact 1,800 after he died. Next, tools that helped us view space accurately were the classic telescopes. The scientist that built this was Galileo Galilei (1609). The telescope allowed humans see space from further distances. However, today we have better and improved telescopes. Galileo was not just an ordinary scientist. He also discovered that planet Jupiter had little, rocky objects, which were moons that were orbiting around it. A famous telescope that we have today is the Hubble Space Telescope. This is from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. Furthermore, our generation has thought of even better ideas to explore space. Between 1969 and 1972, the project of Apollo got to land the first people on the moon. Then, the people got to learn that over millions of years, rocky objects such as asteroids and meteorites hit the moon. This is why the moon has holes. Lastly, many people say that the universe began due to the Big Bang. After the explosion, people assume that a tiny point began to expand and enlarge itself ever since. Scientists believe the universe is still expanding over time. Moreover, the universe is said to be 13.5 billion years old. ‘What is beyond the universe?’ Well, there are many galaxies that are millions of light years away. As one can see, this informative science book has taught the readers many facts about the exploration of space.

Even though the readers have finished this marvelous book, they still have three questions to respond to. First of all, the first question was simple. ‘How is this book a informative and science-type kind?’ This book is informative because it is loaded with facts and it displays the evolution of space technology. Meanwhile, this is a science kind of book due to the topic. How Do Scientists Explore Space? is a title that can be inferred to be about science. Next, the next question is, ‘What other title you would give this book and why?’ If I were to choose another title for this book, then it would be, The Evolution of Space Exploration. This is a great title because it tells the reader that the book will be about how many famous scientists around the world have found ways to see space from a whole different level. Lastly, the final question I had in mind was, ‘Why did the author write this book?’ Robert Snedden wrote this book to inform people about space in general and what tools are needed in order to look at our beautiful solar system. Snedden also wants the readers to enjoy a informative book that is full of interesting facts about space and the events that have happened throughout the many centuries. As one can see, these were the three questions that the readers and I have come up with after we have finished this amazing book.

This breathtaking book has had the readers to think about recommending it to many other people with many types of tastes. First of all, my favorite part in this story is the Apollo project and how it has helped many people achieve their dream of going to the moon. Moreover, the Apollo 13 was where the first astronauts got to see and walk on the moon. However, my least favorite part was about the scientist Aristarchus. This scientist was not very famous. This led him to finally discover the many theories about the solar system. The sad part is that people did not believe it until 1,800 years after his death. ‘Would I ever read another book about this author?’ The answer is absolutely. This author is a talented person who shows his love of writing through the detailed books he writes such as this one. I would be proud to learn more about something else. Lastly, I would recommend this book to people who adore science and would like to be taught about space and the many different scientists who helped us with it. I would also highly recommend this to people who do like non-fiction books and to people who like books with facts. I would not recommend this book to people who read books with numerous amounts of pages. Therefore, this book was indeed so marvelous that I had to recommend it to people.

The book How Do Scientists Explore Space? by Robert Snedden gives a interesting introduction into the exploration of space. Astronomers such as Aristarchus are introduced, "all of these observations become the basis of modern astronomy" (Snedden 5). He was a Greek astronomer about 2,200 years ago who figured out that the Sun was much bigger than Earth. Only 1,800 years later, the fact that the Earth moved around the Sun and not the every way around was accepted. Space technology, such as telescopes, probes, robots and rovers are included as well. One of the first telescopes was built by Galileo Galilei in 1609. It was not very powerful compared to the equipment we have today, but Galilei was able to discover things like mountains and spots on the Moon and Sun. After this discovery, telescopes kept growing during the next 300-400 years, until in 1990 when scientists solved the issue of the atmosphere, and subsequently built the Hubble Space Technology. This informative book by Robert Snedden not only gives impressive insight about the technology in space, but also about the planets that are out there, and the people who research it.

This book presents many characteristics which help me say that it is a nonfiction book. Firstly, there is a table of contents with different topics at the beginning. It also doesn't have a structured sequence, which shows that the book doesn't have to necessarily be read cover to cover. The author probably wrote this book to inform young students about the history of space, and the modern technology used today to investigate space. It may also have been written to praise the scientists who spent so much time discovering planets and our solar system, such as Galileo Galilei or Dr. Heidi Hammel, "she has studied the planet Jupiter and other parts of space" (Snedden 9). For me, the most interesting part of this book was learning about the SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) which is a project organized by a few countries. This huge machine has solar panels flat against the side, and it is a satellite which send huge amounts of information from the Sun to scientists on Earth. This resulted to be the most interesting part for me because now I know how the information collect in space can be sent back to Earth. Learning about the solar system and modern technology, and seeing pictures really helped.

This book can be recommended to anybody, but in specific children of a younger age. This is so because the vocabulary is fairly easy, and the explanations are short so as to attract the reader's attention. On the other hand, this book is an easy way to research basic information about space for any age, but I would only recommend it to students ages 18 and lower. One of the reasons I didn't give this book 5 stars was because it was too easy for me, so I quickly lost interest. Next time I choose a book, I will definitely make sure that it is in my level, and that I am interested by it. Nonetheless, the book How Do Scientists Explore Space? by Robert Snedden is appealing, interesting and useful.
