Jessica's love life is a mess. She wants a man who will love her, make her heart pound with desire and her body melt from passion. Marriage is in there too, but finding the right guy is turning out to be mission impossible.
Dumping Mr. Wrong, she heads to her cabin in the mountains, hardly expecting to be swept off her feet and out of this world—literally—into the arms of the sexiest man she's ever met. What she isn't prepared for is to get the man of her dreams—in duplicate!
Dylan and Jett don't care which planet they discover their mate on, only that they find the woman who will complete them both. And when Dylan touches Jessica's mind and body, he knows it is his mate he holds in his arms.
But Jessica is about to find her personal taboos stretched to the limit by these two sexy, powerful warriors. Offering her everything she ever wanted from a man, she finds out that sometimes what you wished for is a whole lot more than you can handle. But an Alcandian warrior never gives up until the battle is won…
Mary Wine has written over twenty novels that take her readers from the pages of history to the far reaches of space. Recent winner of a 2008 EPPIE Award for erotic western romance, her book LET ME LOVE YOU was quoted “Not to be missed…” by Lora Leigh, New York Times best-selling author.
When she’s not abusing a laptop, she spends time with her sewing machines…all of them! Making historical garments is her second passion. From corsets and knickers to court dresses of Elizabeth I, the most expensive clothes she owns are hundreds of years out of date. She’s also an active student of martial arts, having earned the rank of second degree black belt.
I've read a couple of Mary Wine books before so when I saw this one pop up as an Amazon freebie I was all over it. Plus, I'm a sucker for muscles and that cover has some nice ones. However, I had a few issues with Mr Muscles and his world and those issues ran deep enough that I'm really torn on how I feel about the book as a whole.
My biggest issue (and one that's admittedly personal) is that all of Jessica's wants (excluding the physical) were ignored or overridden by Dylan and Jett. Yes, they did agree to accommodate her in the end when she asked for more time but they treated her like a possession up to that point, one that was there specifically to pleasure them. Even they mothers acted deplorably toward the poor girl, bulldozing over her valid complaints with borderline passive aggressiveness. I really had a problem with the bathing and not allowing her any privacy and especially with giving Jessica a full body electrolysis without telling her what they were doing. It squicks me out that these women who had once been in her position showed her so little empathy.
I'm usually a big fan of the Alpha male (or males) claiming their lady but this scenario didn't work for me. I didn't like the way Jessica was treated and it tainted my enjoyment of the rest of the book.
I couldn't even get past page 60 without just giving up. I can't imagine anyone putting up with such abuse from these assholes, and I never even got to know the guys either, which could have saved the book. Instead we're told about this girl turning into a victim of kidnapping and emotional abuse. Great. Just what I wanted to read. Read my updates for more rantings :P
I tried 3 times to read this novel and every time I was crushed by the sheer absurdity of characters, plot, etc. At least some erotica has a few things that is possible to accept/ believe in. Here I can't find anything to believe in: the characters are absurd, so is the plot. (World-building is a nasty word, better not use it...) What's left? Nothing.
A few examples. Plot: in an everyday, normal world is it possible the military (in which women serve) sells human women in exchange for (unknown)? Characters: -the "heroes" are supposedly thousands of years advanced compared to us. Usually advances aren't only technological, they are cultural too. Are these people any better? More understanding? Nope. They don't even think of cultural differences. They are practically bullies.
(In a futuristic and hopefully better world, if a woman doesn't feel comfortable in getting naked with others around, I sincerely hope no one, above all an other woman, ever will pressure her telling her she has nothing more/different.)
-Heroine: schizophrenic. At moment she is strong enough to say no to pressure, but then she seems to be unable to resist bullying. She likes people for unknown reason. (Your kidnappers' mothers are kidnappers too.)
-Heroine's brother (military). He is beyond angry that his sister has been "sold", but has no qualm in trying to convince her to give them a try (them = menage a trois). Characters' coherence isn't an insult. Ever heard of it?
I thought this was going to be a good read since there's 3 books in the series, but just couldn't get through this book. Hardly anything is explained and I found it hard to keep down interest in the book when there were so many questions in my head.
This book took me awhile to finish. It was that "You belong to us, don't fight it" thing. Which I would find a little irritating but Jessica was second guessing herself over and over. May I should say she was 30-guessing herself. It got ridiculous after about the 15th time. If the author would have limited herself to maybe (and I mean maybe) 10 times, it would have been a better book in my opinion. Still it was worth a read.
This book has one of my favorite story lines. Unfortunately it just did not pull me in. The characters and their relationship fell flat, and I don't exactly know why. Not particularly helpful, but there you have it. I've enjoyed other works by this author, just not especially this one.
The storyline wasn't bad, but the heroine was treated like a doormat. And don't even get me started on the fact that the SPANKING (which was NOT NOTED ANYWHERE) totally ruined the sex for me. I am not against alpha male stuff, but abuse isn't sexy.
This is the first book in a science fiction series that I hope will be longer than three books. Ms. Wine does a wonderful job of world building with this first book. There are some slow spots but they are in the interest of getting reader up to speed about what is going on and why.
The main characters are the Alcandians and an earth woman that becomes their mate. The Alcandians are short on woman and have come to Earth to try to find mates. They approach the government with a choice to either allow them to search for mates or be invade and the search would happen anyway. As always there are elements that think that we can fight off any force no matter how advanced their civilization. I think someone has been watching a too many episodes of Stargate. The first two Alcandians are Dylan and Jett. From what I can discern these two are typical males for this society. They are warriors and alpha males. They are big, well trained and more than a little drool worthy. They are honorable and tough. I liked them and some of the secondary characters that are also introduced in this book. Because there is a shortage of woman on Alcandar it is expect and accepted that each grouping will be one woman and two or more men.
The first female that is taken to Alcandar under the new treaty is Jessica Somerton. She accidentally meets Dyaln when she goes to her cabin in the mountains of California. Her brother Cole has brought the men there because of the remote location. Dylan and Jessica’s first meeting is a little on the rough side mostly because she is unexpected and the men are warriors. Jessica is a virgin and she has stayed that way because she wanted to save herself for her husband. She has dated and done some heavy petting and necking but she has never felt compelled to go any farther. Jessica is a smart, extremely independent woman that has made it in the world on her own. She is unhappy with her love life but she keeps hoping to find Mr. Right. Her problem is that she isn’t willing to acknowledge that Mr. Right is really Misters Right.
While this doesn’t have to polish that some of Ms. Wine’s later books have it is a good story and it does make you want to read the next book in the series. There are a number of interesting characters in the book and there is a cliff hanger of sorts. I hate cliff hangers. Luckily the next book is available on my reader so I don’t have to wait to find out what happens next.
Alcandian Quest is your typical alien menage abduction series, however, with the added benefit of the Government helping them keep everything under the radar.
Our h, Jessica, catches her soon to be ex boyfriend and her friend romping in her bed, he thought a threesome would be a good way for Jessica to lose her virginity. Jessica didn't think so.
So she decides to go to her cabin in the mountains to get away from them, remember, they were in her bed in her apartment. When she gets to her cabin her brother Cole, who works for some mysterious govt department, is annoyed she came as he has a couple of aliens with him. Jessica of course just thinks they are hunks but due to her very recent breakup she isn't interested. But she keeps getting these flashes in her head that look to be from Dylan the hunk.
Dylan is astounded to have found his true bond mate but is disappointed she isn't leaping into his arms yet, even though he knows her body is ready.
The majority of the story is Dylan and his companion Jett trying to convince her that she is their one. And that gets a bit tedious, and then there is the govt doublecross to contend with.
I'll probably read the next one to find out how they rescue Jett's sister from our bad govt.

ok so this is prob more like 3 & 1/2 stars the only problem with this book was that the indission by the heroine was FRUSTRATING ! it took to much away from what could of been a great story line . it ,ade the story drag . It did how ever show a lot of improvement at about 50% then picked up dramatically nearing the end of the book . amazingly so that it made me want to follow the story thru to the next book in the series. i have a feeling that each book will show improvement in the pace of the plot but i just dont know if it has sucked me in enough to spend the $6 & time in reading it when my TBR list is packed to the brim with awesome book ....hmmmm
well u never know if the next book hits the free list then i would give it a go & happily review it but its not something i went troting off to amazon to get my hands on straight away :)
This book is not for the faint at heart. Mary Wine delivers her version of alien abduction and it is diffintely different from your big headed, big eyed aliens. Instead you have 2 warriors from another planet that have come to find their one true mate. In this the find, Jessica whose brother inadvertently, is using her home and has one of these hunks with him. Dylan does try and give Jessica a chance to "date him" on here on Earth but she flat out refuses him. So she is tricked by the government (go figure) into going to his home planet where he and his partner proceed to show her just how a threesome works. I leave you to read the rest!!! I liked this alien version a whole lot better than the History's channels green monsters. LOL!!
Very entertaining. I have a soft spot for alien-human abduction stories and this one was better than most. Nicely paced, engaging characters, and a HEA ending for the main characters but with a cliff hanger for a minor character. However, I wouldn't have complained if the author had spent a little more time on the emotional connection between the characters. Will definitely read the next book.
Wine is a new-to-me author. I like her writing style and I plan to finish this series and then try some of her other books.
So it all begins with a shocking view of her current boyfriend and best friend engaging in smex and amazed her virginal self didn't want to join in... Flash forward and shes kidnapped by alien hunks from a mostly male warrior planet where two bonded males want to make a Jessie sandwich permanently. This 2 book somewhere in the mix of all the skin a storyline emerged and the cheesy start became more interesting. Might even invest in the next book to see if the writing improves.
Ménage à trois fantasy anyone? Two hunky otherworldly men take a woman on an experience she'll never forget. My biggest complaint is that the heroine many times over will give in to pleasure but then repeatedly runs from the two warriors when hey talk to her about commitment when she claims that's all she's ever wanted? Other then that, it's a good erotica that may leave you a little sweaty after reading. ;)
I really liked this book but felt it was missing some of the history to help understand things a little better, maybe it is just my instinctual need to know all the little details, yes I am a details girl. Any way I did love the story and I will be reading the next book in the series to find out if Zeva makes it home!! Very happy with this read :)
at first i gave it one star the first time i read it but i reread it and decided to give it three stars, im open to reading books with three way relationships but the friction and development between the two male leads still frustrates me but i decided im not going to hold that against the story despite the plot moving along at a snails pace it wasnt a bad story so three stars it is.
I enjoyed the premise of this book. I am a huge fan of this author. The only downside for me was the heroine was supposed to be modern, independent, and strong but she was so indecisive that I wanted to shake her senseless! By about 70% into the book and she was still wishy-washy! Ugh, put your big girl panties on already.
Sci fi heroine is an emissary for government and travels via a wormhole to distant planet. Along the way she is "chosen" to be the mate of 2 warriors. They will share a mind bridge and go on a quest. I had a tough time understanding the world the author created.
This book did not totally wow me but it wasn't the worst I've read too. Jessica met Dylan when she went back to her cabin after catching her bf with her friend. After the meeting, Dylan, got the military to 'trade' her to their realm where Dylan and Jett 'won' her over to be their mate.
I just did not like this one that much. The story was okay I guess but there was never any conversation between Jessica and her mates. All they did was a bunch of kidnaping. I just needed more wooing and talking and I probably would have rated it higher. Probably will not be reading the rest.
