"The story of Cinderella has been a beloved fairy tale for generations. This book tells the classic story through a new modern lens. In jeans and a t-shirt, this Cinderella accepts a magic spell from her fairy godmother so she can go to a ball and meet the love of her life. Stunning illustrations show a dark-skinned Cinderella in this celebration of diversity that will appeal to a new generation of readers.

The description claims that this picture book retells the story through a modern lens, but it's a paint-by-numbers retelling with all of the same historic trappings, and the only difference is the modern clothes that people wear before the ball. This is a perfectly fine diverse retelling of the traditional Cinderella story, but there's nothing new or creative about the story.
