Three Trees is a reimagining of the Eden story. Come on a journey with Eagle, the one entrusted to watch over Adam and his family. The story flows to Adam's sons, Cain and Abel, and creates a story around their lives. The author, Matt Beckenham, unpacks the great themes of love, restoration, freedom from shame, and healing. He uses his own story to help us see the lives of the ancients who had to deal with many of the challenges that occur in the relationships of our own life and with God. He takes us back to understand our original design and invites us to live from that place.
Matt outdoes himself with this book. Three Trees is a fiction book that follows Adam and Eve and then the story of Cain and Able. I feel everyone should read this, and I will be reading it to my grandchildren. This book helps expand the stories in the Bible as it stretches and grows your relationship with our Father, as you learn to love yourself and others even more. I have had to stop and even re read parts just to absorb more of it. I love how Matt uses his creativity to show us how deeply we are all loved by our Father, and reminded that we are created in His image and each of us hold a unique part special to Him. No matter what we do, all He wants is a relationship with us! The illustrations by Jessie DeCorsey are beautiful!
Three Trees is the book I’ve been waiting for. Its reminds me of some of my favorite classics like The Chronicles of Narnia or the Pilgrims Progress but there is something that sets this narrative apart. The way the author uses scripture from both the Old and New Testament to create a world that jumps out of the pages was captivating. I could not put this book down. Each chapter felt like an encounter with a new piece of God’s heart. The way Beckenham was able to do this within some of the most challenging human experiences was exceptional. So much so, I want to get this book for everyone I know. He makes the Bible come alive in new ways and honors it so well which I really appreciated. My favorite part that I think people would enjoy is the heavenly perspective or birds eye view that we see through Eagle. Some of these conversations and questions that are explored in these pages are the theological breakthroughs I have been longing for. Beckenham has captured something really special and original in Three Trees that I think the world needs right now. If you liked his first book, Eden’s Blueprint – get ready to go deeper and further into God’s love and design.
I love the way Matt writes. He takes you on such a precious journey into an authentic and real conversation that makes receiving wisdom and revelation a joy. For me, that's what is so profound about Matt's books. They have a transferability where you find yourself seated at the family table in conversation with the Designer, discovering unseen and wonderful truths that you didn't know were there before. I highly recommend the experience!
An absolutely beautiful explanation of God's redemptive story. Exploring through Godly imagination the wider picture of the Genesis story. The joy and grief experienced by Adam and Eve has taken me into a deeper understanding of what happened after Eden. I'm seeing the Cain and Abel narrative in a completely new light. Matt does such a wonderful job of illustrating the tenacious love of our heavenly Father and the agony He experiences with the risk of giving us all free will to choose His love.
