Corrado Augias is an Italian journalist, writer and TV host. He was also a member of the European Parliament in 1994–1999 for the Democratic Party of the Left.
Augias issued a series of crime novels set in the early 20th century and others. His other works include several essays about peculiar features of the world's most important cities: I segreti di Rome, Paris, New York and London. In 2006, in collaboration with scholar Mauro Pesce, he published a work dealing with the gospel's description of the life of Jesus, Inchiesta su Gesù, which became a bestseller in Italy.
He is an atheist.

𝚁𝚘𝚖𝚊, 𝟷𝟿 𝚕𝚞𝚐𝚕𝚒𝚘 𝟷𝟿𝟺𝟹 - il commissario Flaminio Prati viene chiamato per investigare ed indagare su un omicidio che vede l'uccisione di una giovane donna, Franca Gandolfo, una delle meretrici del casino in via degli Avignonesi. Un susseguirsi di avvenimenti accadono in "𝚀𝚞𝚎𝚕𝚕𝚊 𝙼𝚊𝚝𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚊 𝚍𝚒 𝙻𝚞𝚐𝚕𝚒𝚘", tra cui, il più tragico: un bombardamento al Verano allo Scalo di San Lorenzo, talmente brutale da cancellare ogni traccia del corpo ormai scomparso sotto le macerie.
Questa strage sarà la cornice, il periodo storico e la base del racconto di una Roma sotto controllo e sotto assedio dai fascisti guidati dal Duce Mussolini, quasi alla sua caduta insieme al regime.
Il commissario si ritrova tra tante domande e con poche risposte; incerto tra cosa aspettarsi, se prima o poi sarà resa giustizia per questa donna, nonostante ci siano già tanti altri morti causati dal bombardamento a cui dare più rilevanza ed importanza.
È un thriller avvincente e dettagliato, con termini molto forti e attenti. Le particolarità accattivanti dello scrittore, ma allo stesso tempo travolgenti, sono le descrizione dei paesaggi che raccontano questa meravigliosa ed incantevole città da sogno.
