The white race can learn from the Native American that civilization can fold back upon itself to such an extent that it enervates, producing weak, pale, nervous, irritable, and complaining people who live to acquire things, rather than enjoy Nature in community. At least this is what the author found by actually interacting with the Natives, overcoming the bad health he grew up with by embracing a more active, simple, and social lifestyle, all the while retaining his Western culture.
