In A MEDIUM GIFT, the fourth and final episode of Eddie Cayce’s return home to New Orleans, Eddie's dealing with her murderous aunt along with trying to finish up Uncle Arthur's love nest before Nic finds out due to a stray thought Eddie forgets to control. And there's the Clayborne Estate to finish, not to mention figuring out all the college entrance hoops with Lilac.
When did Eddie's life get so complicated? Eddie's ready to tie up all the loose ends until someone else dies and she finds out she's next on the killer's list.

Good novella with lots of magic in the background. It may be the last in the series or there may be more - not sure yet. Enjoy the character and it's a nice short break between her longer mysteries.
A quick fun read that has Eddie finally able to figure out who is trying to kill her, mess in her brother's business, disrupt her growing shop and design business and leaving her too busy saving her own skin to enjoy a personal life. A very satisfying finish to this cute short series.
A Medium Gift is the 4th novella in Lynn Cahoon’s A Haunted Life Mystery series. This was a fun read that I could not put down, I had to know what was going to happen next. Fast paced, quirky characters, humor, a cleverly plotted mystery with twist that kept me guessing, a little paranormal, lots of action and set in the amazing city of New Orleans. One of my favorite things about this series is the strong friendships. I also enjoy the mental connection between the main character Eddie and her brother, Nic. I was intrigued by the concept of dreamwalking. There’s so much more that I want to know about these characters. I hope Ms. Cahoon decides to continue with this series. I received an advance copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve enjoyed this series of novellas so much and really like Eddie’s character as well as the key players in her life, including the ghosts like Harry who lives in the store or Tessa a more recently departed one. I love how in all this author’s series I’ve read, there’s always the theme of family.
Whether it’s blood family or a work family…or both, the togetherness is always stressed and some of my favorite endings (food, family and fellowship) are always had by her characters, Bubba and Eddie included. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for them since I’m pretty sure we might be seeing more of them again soon. Hint: just read the acknowledgments. 😉
I love these guys! A Medium Gift brought some big surprises, but the best thing is that it allowed us to continue time with the wonderful characters in The Haunted Live Cozy Mystery Series! Lynn Cahoon always creates realistic characters that charm their way into the reader's heart. The twists that have followed the plot continue to come and there is no doubt that Eddie will face the unexpected for the rest of her life. I loved everything about the way this book ended...everything!
"A Medium Gift" is book #4 in "The Haunted Life Cozy Mystery" series by Lynn Cahoon.

My thoughts: I do like the core characters of this series. The banter and support they give each other feels right but, I just can't wrap my brain around the whole spirit world, ghosts and the supposed powers that Eddie and other have to see/feel all of these things. A similar story without all the woo woo stuff could have been told just as easily. It does appear that this is the end of the series, however given that there has been crossovers with Nic and the Tourist Trap series character Esmerelda, I suspect we haven't read the last from Eddie and friends. While her Aunt Franny is on trial for attempted murder, Eddie Cayce is confined to a room waiting to learn whether or not she will have to testify. Eddie learns from the prosecuting attorney, Peter Kennedy, that her aunt agreed to plead No Contest to attempted kidnapping. When Peter Kennedy is found dead, the initial finding is that he died of a heart attack. Eddie is not so sure about the diagnosis. Since Peter negotiated the plea deal, why would her aunt want him dead? With a remodeling project under way for Eliza Clayborn, Eddie has plenty to keep her busy and hopefully be able to cover all of her expenses. Nic also has his hands full with saving the company from disaster.
Did Peter really die from a heart attack? Is Eddie finally safe from the threats to kill her? Will Nic be able to save the company? Can Eddie untangle the secrets to finally figure out who she can or cannot trust?
Lynn Cahoon has done a fantastic job with this series and I hope to see more of Eddie's adventures in the future.
This is the fourth (and final) book in the Haunted Life series. Eddie's aunt, Franny, is being held accountable for her actions and Eddie's figuring out where her uncle, Arthur, stands within the family. But it seems someone may still be after Eddie. Can they figure things out?
I loved this series and this book's an excellent addition to it. The book's well-written and the characters are well-developed. I was drawn into this enchanting and magical tale from the beginning and kept hooked until the end. The mystery will keep you on your toes and guessing throughout. Lynn is an excellent author and storyteller creating worlds for you to enter and escape to for a while. I know this is supposed to be the last book, but I sincerely hope to see more of Eddie and the others in the future. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order to get the most benefit and enjoyment out of things.
Family, Friends & A Paranormal Cozy Mystery Finale
A Medium Life is a fun paranormal cozy mystery with wonderful characters and a mystery that kept me guessing. The family ties and friendship make this series so enjoyable. Eddie Cayce owns an antique store and an Interior Design business in New Orleans. Her workers are Mel, Heather and Lilac. Eddie's Uncle Arthur hires her to remodel his home. Eddie and her brother Nic don't trust him. Eddie and Heather are also working on another house. Eddie's Aunt was arrested in the previous book and Eddie and Nic are worried she is still a threat to them. Bubba is assigned to security to watch over Eddie and Lilac. Paranormal events are in many parts of the story and it gets a little involved but it keeps the story interesting. This appears to be the end for the series. Loose ends are tied up nicely. #AMediumGift #TheHauntedLifeCozyMysterySeries
This is the fourth and sadly the last in The Haunted Life Cozy Mystery series written by Lynn Cahoon. There were plenty of twists, turns, and surprises in this standalone story. We learn more about Eddie’s neighbor, about Bubba, and others in her family. Her aunt still wants Eddie’s powers and proves she’ll do almost anything to get those powers.
This was a well-written standalone story. I recommend reading all four in order to see the characters jump from the pages with each new reveal to the reader.
Read this book to see which family and friend relationships are mended, strengthen, or torn apart. The book ends on a positive note.
I was given an advanced copy and these are my own opinions.
A Medium Gift is book #4 in the The Haunted Life Cozy Mystery series by Lynn Cahoon.
Eddie is waiting to testify at her aunt’s trial for attempting to murder her. She’s finishing up decorating projects, and worrying about Lilac leaving for college.
Eddie had a lot going on and I can see why she was feeling tired. I love the family Eddie has created. The wrap up of what was going on with her aunt was a satisfying ending. It says this is the fourth and final episode of Eddie’s return home but I certainly hope we get to catch up with Eddie, Nic, Lilac, Bubba and the others again.
I received a free copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
As I mentioned in another post, had I seen the cheezy cover, I probably wouldn't have picked this book!!! But I'm glad I started at the first page (Kindle, who knows? It works in strange ways!!!). The minute I started reading this book, I was drawn back into the world of ghosts, spells and murders!!! It's been fun getting to know the "family" and I like the fact that not all family has to be based on blood. Maybe there will be another book, but this one ended nicely and I am happy with that!!!😁 Thank you, Lynn, I had fun!!!
A Medium Gift is the fourth and final book in Cahoon's The Haunted Life Cozy Mystery Series. I'm sad it's the last book in the series, but it does a great job of wrapping everything up. I loved sending time with Eddie and her crew. This book, like the others, is fun and interesting with a great storyline, danger, mystery, and a little magic. I'm going to miss this series and all the characters. *Crossing my fingers Cahoon will decide to write more cozy adventures with Eddie and friends.*
“I’m an interior designer, not a private eye.” “The world would have to be on fire.” “The connection is never broken with family.”
“Eddie Cayce had come home” and what an thrilling journey it’s been to see her find her family, by blood and by choice in the Haunted Lice novellas. Book four wrapped up the series perfectly while leaving it just open enough to hope for another chapter down the line.
I love this series & am so sorry to see it end (although Lynn hints that maybe there will be more). But this is a wonderful wrap up of the story so far. Eddie finally wraps up the whodunnit of just who has been behind most of the trouble that's happened since she's come back to New Orleans. And I'm happy that she made a choice to give one of the guys in her life a chance.
Highly recommend this entire series. Each book is a quick read & so much fun!
Book 4 is a great addition to this series. Eddie is such a good character. The crazy family drama and magic/gifts of all that are involved. I enjoy the balance of "gifted" characters and non gifted. I was kept on my toes throughout the book not knowing who the killer was. I definitely recommend this series, I hope to read more in this series.
I have loved this series since the first book and this final installment does not disappoint. Eddie Cayce is a unique character that is set in a world full of ghosts she must learn to deal with to keep her life delicately balanced. I was drawn into Eddie's world quickly and am sad to learn this is the last book in this series.
I enjoyed this book very much. The characters are as fascinating as New Orleans and growing with each story told. The plot is easily followed, despite all the twists, turns, and switch backs the reader encounters. The premise is protecting the true family from harm. I most definitely recommend this book!
Great fourth book in this series. The storyline and characters are well written and entertaining. I can't wait to read more from this author. I received this book as a Free copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
You’ll love this final book in the medium gift episodes. I’ve read all four and thoroughly enjoyed them. Each one has a unique sense of its own and the characters are wonderful. It kind of made it seem like I was part of their family. Thanks for writing.
I read this slowly because it is the last book in the series and I didn't want it to end. I hope that these characters will continue in some way. This was a short story that keeps your interest. Some crazy characters. 5 stars all the way!
Great final book in the series. Mysteries solved with lots of red herrings and developments. Hopefully there will be more in this series involving secondary characters and storylines. Enjoyed the flow and threads in the series, and knowing that characters in other series have ties to this one.
I loved this book. This is such a fun series. I love the characters and the setting in New Orleans. This book is engaging and has many surprises. The mystery will keep you guessing. This is a fantastic conclusion to the series. I highly recommend this book.
Each book in this series gets better and better. The characters are personable and easy to become a part of their lives. The plot keeps you interested. Its hard to put down once you've started reading! I hope this series continues. Its great!
When got to the end of the first book I thought the mystery part was not going to be solved. The second book solved some mystery and added more. The last book give me that satisfied feeling I crave at the end of a book.
