When Sadie Speer's granddaughter, Sara, goes horseback riding by herself, Daisy returns to the stable missing a shoe and Sara! Sadie and her daughter, Alice, along with Edwin, Sheriff Slattery and friends, spring into action to find the girl. While the search goes on, Sadie used her sleepless hours to delve into the story behind an old doctor's bag and medical implements she purchases at an auction. She traces them back to a historical figure-the Angel of Silver Peak.
Sadie buys an antique medical bag at a sale and is trying to figure out whose it was when she hears that her granddaughter Sara is missing. The horse she was riding comes back alone. Several chapters are about the town trying to find her. I had thought that this series was by one author since they all have the same author listed but it turns out that it is a pen name for a team of authors. Some of the books are better than others.
My favorite thus far of the Silver Peak mysteries. Loved this one..as a Mama it was a bit of an emotional read but I couldn't put it down! First to see what happened to Sara and then to see how the mystery unfolded...Fantastic read!
Sadie gets at an auction an old medical bag with instruments. She finds out they belonged to a person known as the Angel of Silver Peak. Sadie decides to find out who this person is. Later in the day, her daughter, Alice finds out that that Sara, her daughter went horseback riding by herself and the horse came back to the stable without Sara. Sara is missing. Also, Alice can't get a hold of Sara's dad. Did Cliff take Sara? People from their church and town come out to look for Sara. Can Sadie and the others find her. Read this very suspenseful book to find out what happened to Sara. Also, does Sara find out who the Angel of Silver Peak is, and who does the medical bag belong too? Enjoy!
This was a very interesting read and one of my favorite silver peak books. Of all the guidepost mysteries, I think mysteries of silver peak are my favorite. They’re a light read, not really intense but suspenseful enough to be interesting and not too slow or boring. I kept reading to see what happened to Sara and then to see what the outcome of it all would be. I was pleasantly surprised by the ending.
Sadie Speer owns an antique shop called the Antique Mine in Silver Peak, Colorado. She attends an auction and purchases an old black leather doctor's satchel full of medical instruments and begins to research for the provenance. Sadie's granddaughter Sara left on a horseback ride; the horse returned without Sara and most of the town turns out to search for her. The book goes into the story of Sara's disappearance, a mysterious woman, and who the old medical bag belonged to.
I've read one other book in this series, liked it enough to want to read others, and enjoyed this one too. All of these books seem to be nice, clean, Christian fiction where the stories are easy to read and follow.
I really enjoy the Silver Peak Mystery series. Each book focuses on an interesting subject. Sadie Speers, the protagonist, is a 60+ year-old grandmother who runs the town's antique shop. In this book she buys an old medical bag and then delves into the history of the bag, following the rumors of a woman who in the late 1890s, known as "The Angel of Silver Peak", who ministered to the miners and their families. Her research is put on hold when her young teenaged granddaughter Sara goes missing after a horseback ride in the mountains. Was she injured? Kidnapped? Both mysteries are eventually solved as Sadie follows clues.
