The Way Station: A Western Frontier Story
No peace without forgiveness
When his partner, Neil Waters, refuses his blessing for Deputy U.S. Marshal Trey Holkam to marry his sister, a dejected and embarrassed Holkam rides off. Separated from his true love and the U.S. Marshal Company, Holkam disappears. Convinced not to give up on Holkam, U.S. Marshal Blue Henry Craig agrees to give him time to heal.
Holkam happens upon an ambushed and dying Waters. Unable to resolve their differences before Waters dies, Holkam painfully decides to deliver Waters’s body to his sister, Sue, so she may say goodbye and mourn.
No redemption without repentance
He arrives at the way station, owned and operated by Sue, to discover she is being threatened by the most powerful man in the region, Harold King. Known in these parts as The King, he is bent on taking over the way station.... one way or the other.
The remnants of Holkam’s Company stand with Sue against The King as she faces almost certain death. The King rounds up the most vicious gunslingers from the area and attacks the way station. Can a tormented Holkam come to terms with his past in time to prove himself to the woman he loves?

Wounds of the heart can be the hardest to heal. Holkam’s plan is to take care of business at the way station and keep riding, but his heart has another idea. Can he earn back her trust and place in her heart, or will he run again?

A good read.
I am a big fan of westerns, i.e. Louie L'Amour and Zane Grey. For this book, the action was solid. I felt a lack of connection to the characters, the pain of possibly losing a character or the attraction/love interest. This is Book #6 and the development has probably been built through the other five, so I am coming to the party late.

Good read
This was a really good story, western/romance. Not a long book but it is filled with action and good western gun fights. I like the characters, not too many to get confused with, and how they all fit in. Good guys versus bad and the ——- guys win.

Every once in awhile it’s refreshing to go back to a good old fashioned western. Haven’t read one lately and this turned out to be a nice one. Good and bad characters, lots of action and a nice little romance.
