T.J. Case #1

The Presence

Rate this book
A Small-Town Lawyer. Big-City Corruption. Can One Person Truly Make a Difference? T. J. Case, a North Carolina lawyer and politician, takes a stand of integrity that costs him his election. As he considers his future, a morning of quiet reflection is transformed into a remarkable summons that propels him into the middle of Washington politics. And accompanying this commission is an extraordinary sense of divine direction to help reshape twisted lives and challenge corrupt systems.

The cause that T. J. Case represents meets with resistance at the highest levels. In a dramatic clash against a shadowy network of organized evil, The Presence emerges as the prevailing power. But obedience demands sacrifice.

It's a novel, but it's willingness to address the present power of the Holy Spirit had a big impact on me when I read it.

Exceptional Writing Ability

This is my first T. Davis Bunn book. I’ve read few authors with his writing ability. The story line was somewhat basic yet I found myself drawn in to the point of being deeply impacted.

WHAT IF....

What if a believer were called to a truely prophetic role in modern day America? What if that believer believed that God could provide the love, grace and mercy needed to enable that believer to totally fulfill that calling?
Read on. God can make it happen.

It definitely is one of those novels that you keep thinking about long after you finish it. There were a few places that were slow and some questions that weren’t answered but overall very powerful.

A stunning experience of His Presence and guidance in real life

By far the most powerful novel I have read to date. I find myself wanting to give this book to all my family and friends as birthday and Christmas gifts. The story line addresses issues that are still vital to education of our children now, ten years after the first publishing. The story is gripping and fast-paced, the characters well-developed and endearing. Great symbolism of evil and spiritual warfare. Can you tell, I LOVED it!

The Presence

This book is powerful and beautifully filled with faith, scripture and strong prayers. So why 3 stars? I almost deleted it several times, not until I was at the 82% read did it kick in with what the story/message was. It would have held together better as a short story. Sorry, I really had hopes it would grow into itself far earlier.

What an amazing read! I could feel God’s presence throughout the book not because of the words in the book but because of the way the words made me think. Reminding me that as a child of God his presence is real in my life. I pray for our country that those who belong to Christ would humble themselves and pray and seek God’s will so there is healing in our land.

This wasn't a bad story, but for me it was slow in places... There were several questions left unanswered but maybe they will be in the second book... but that could be interesting due to the ending...

I love the message in this book. It did drag in certain places, however.

Awesome book. I had trouble keeping my attention the first 2 chapters. But then the action started rolling, and I couldn't read fast enough.

Well-written though dated political/religious contemporary novel. The ending is a disappointment to me. And the mixing of Christians/the Church's responsibilities as also being the responsibilities of the federal government is a problem we're still encountering today. Therefore, 3 stars because I liked it for the most part, but for the contrived ending and misinterpretation of Scripture in regards to the political realm. If you're a T. Davis Bunn fan, you'll enjoy this early novel from him.

TJ goes to Washington...what a great read!

I loved this book. It was Davis Bunn's first book, in a new edition. What happens when God's presence is within a believer in Washington DC? Awesome story about what one man can do when he is following God's will!

Great political novel relevant for our day

This is so timely with the current struggle of division and injustice. It is a good example of how our choices impact our lives. The Presence of God is what we too desire.

Truly Filled with Spirit of Almighty God

From the moment I picked up this book, to the absolutely incredible climax of it, I can truly say that T.Davis Bunn has a unique gift of allowing the Holy Spirit fill every sentence.

OK for a debut. A little to many side trips and folksy stories for me. I read and enjoyed others by him though.
